So, a recruit like Fish gets NIL money from UNI? Guess I’m kind of surprised by that. Like you indicated, not sure his role for the Panthers either.
Yep. The floor at UNI for everybody on the roster is $15K. Highest paid this year made $140k and had 3 other guys in high 5 figures. Kids are getting checks everywhere.

Offer to Fish was in the $65k range.

Quote attributed to Jacobson during the UNI-SMU game last night that 11 UNI players plan to return. Essentially everybody, minus seniors. Sound accurate to you? How many recruits coming in?

I haven't read the thread yet. I'll throw my hat into the ring!

I will play 1 game, 1 minute, 1 minute left, Cyclones up 20 points.

I can't count on practicing every day, or travel. I don't want to move.

How much am I worth?

Be nice.
Conrad, not much money but you have our Cyclone hearts!

Paying athletes is getting out of hand, NIL was sold as giving a player some extra spending money so they could go out on a date, or a cut of their uniform sells. That has morphed into pay for play model, with these kids now becoming free agents every season and not have to worry about sitting out for transferring, I have no problem them getting some money, but this is crazy, no contracts, few connections to the school, just give me a check.
They want a pro model, that is fine, make them sign a guaranteed contract, for so many years at the school, and then they can get paid.

Yep, everybody with eligibility is back other than two deep bench guys.

His three HS recruits are as strong as any class he's had. Trevin Jirak from Valley that was Iowa Mr Basketball. Jalen Wilson from the Twin Cities (6-7 swing kid) that was a Top 100 kid right up until he didn't commit to a P5. Geon Hutchins from Detroit (6-3 wing) that was 1st Team all State in Michigan's biggest class and won a state title.

One roster spot available and the focus is is on an older shooter from the portal.

Depending on what McCollum/Stirtz do, UNI should be the Valley preseason favorite.

Why would players agree to that? The cat is out of the bag.

Players have a lot more power than the schools do.

Also, if some schools start demanding contracts, other schools will snag those players up.
Don’t you think that with agents involved it won’t get pushed to a contract? Kind of lessens the agents liability and assures that the agent gets a cut.

Eventually, if not already, the high majors will need to offer tangibly more to get freshmen. players

Go make similar money at UNI, play, then get a bigger second contract? Easy call

If they don't agree then they can play professionally somewhere else. Rules need to be established, or people are going to stop going to games. You want to play college sports, sign the contract just like they did before, but with the money all spelled out of how much each player will receive. Right now the players have all the power, that is not going to go on forever, the schools are going to need to regain control or the sports will start to die.
We currently have a system that is going to be funneling tens of millions of dollars to athletes very soon, and then they want more under NIL? Ticket prices and donations are going up every year, and they are starting to price people out of the market, and then they want us to donate even more to NIL. Does it ever end, I mean I am sure the players love the Wild West we are now playing under, it's to their benefit, but for how long before schools just stop playing that game?

It’s not the players demands that are causing an increase in salaries, it’s the willingness of schools and donors to outspend the competition

It’ll take an employment and a CBA.

And likely a high major wide for-profit owner, like PE, to end the aforementioned prisoners dilemma.

Players will still make a lot, more than now, but it will be structured.

Get multiple year contracts and allow for trades/loans. Making offseasons even more enjoyable imo.

If TJ wants to play 4D chess getting a player who’s Bro founded Team Herro and strengthening the WI pipeline is a way.

He played AAU with Milan, and Tyler and Tyrese are also buds. Not sure what roster construction will look like next year, but I can’t imagine spending a scholarship on this.

Let's hold coaches and ADs to the same standard. DeVries with 3 jobs in a year is prime example.
That would be fine. Place buyouts into the deal so a new school has to pay the buyout and then ‘pay’ the player whatever is negotiated. At least NIL funds would be replenished from all this movement.
