I look at our incoming class and then I look at our current bench and I see Nojus Indrusaitus, a consensus top 100 guy many were excited about when he committed. 3/4 incoming freshmen are for sure backcourt guys. Add Indrusaitus, Tamin, Heise, and Rohde theoretically in to the mix. Is it crazy to think TJ doesn't add another guard from the portal and let's this young group battle it out for minutes?

Interestingly, on another Cyclone site, a reputable source believes the French kid- will start day 1 at off guard. Maturity /defense/developing O game. Will be interesting to see. If so - the kid is a steal!
If that’s the case really no need for a transfer. Guess we’ll no what the staff thinks come portal season

He's a money ball guy. He's very efficient, good passer and shooter. He will be a good piece, but won't come close to shoring up all our deficiencies caused by attrition. Probably our Jones replacement. Still need to find a Gilbert imo, then a big to replace Chat, but hopefully one with a little more athleticism and high end upside.
Imo more he is more similar to Gilbert as a combo/pg alongside Lipsey that fills in at pg when Lipsey sits.

Jones is the one that creates shots for himself off the dribble, and I’d be surprised if that’s Rohde. Milan or Batemon

Hopefully we can land him. Given he can play some pg, and off ball at 6’6” and 40% on 3Ps, it’s filling two needs with one player. Good money ball move

The small ball lineup does wonders for our offense, but it absolutely cannot be a permanent solution if we're going to get dominated on the glass like we did against BYU. I hope a big is pursued. I'd prefer it be more in the Hason Ward mold than the Chat/Dishon mold.
On the other hand, if we’re getting dominated on the boards when big, why not go small?

Pretty sure you can expect most of "the bench" to be gone.

I guess none would really surprise me in the current climate of the sport. Even Nojus or Rock. It would suck to lose either, but it is what it is.

Not saying our rebounding shouldn't improve - but the BYU game was clearly an outlier, and a lot of it was fluky caroms off of long shots. It was by far the worst rebounding game of the season. We've only given up > 36% Off Reb rate 3 times this year - 42% in the win at TTU, 43% in the loss to KSU and 48% in the BYU game.

It was also BYU's best rebounding game, at least since some scrubs early in the season. they had 45% in a game against KSU, but were below 40% in all other conference games.

They average 33% on the year, which is 80th. We give up 28.4%, which is 111th (there is definitely room for improvement)

Agree, Nojus is sitting behind a walk on. Fish just doesn’t seem to have a fit. Watson will have to out play Mitchell to get any hope of PT. Rock I hope comes back but who knows?

Of these four, Rock would be the most likely to return, IMO.

Maybe

We’ll need other cheap players to fill out the roster, and having upperclassmen that know our program has value.

On the other hand, with the lottery ticket that (cheap) freshmen have become, and to a lesser extent unheralded (cheap) transfers, it makes sense to roll the dice on as many as possible

Nojus is gone. The writing is on the wall with that one.

I would have thought Watson was gone after last season so him going now wouldn’t be a shock.

Rock… big men take time to develop and I would hate to give up on 7’2”. Trust the coaches that see him every day in practices.

Nojus might be gone. As well as any other player on the roster. Just a fact in the immediate-eligible transfer and NIL era.

Basically, EVERY player is a free agent to seek more playing time, better perceived fit or bigger paycheck.

But, Kelderman getting minutes vs. Nojus isn't meaningful. One is a traditional PG (Kelderman) and the other off-guard/wing (Indrusaitis). 100% of Kelderman's minutes were to fill Lipsey's role on defense and to lesser degree run offense.
