Lol, I do know that. Which is why taking Carter is so weird to me, taking an edge when we have two elite edge guys already. I agree we could use someone on the interior to pair with DL but be real, we have three outright studs on the DL right now. We already have one of the better DLs in the league.

And I'd argue the reason the Eagles beat the Chiefs was as much because of the Eagles' OL as the DL.
They took him because the Eagles deal is to keep rotating in quality D line and wearing down the offense. It's the strength of their team, and after watching them dominate my Chiefs, I would say it worked very well.
Like any. position in the NFL, good players become expensive and you have to keep drafting their replacements, the Giants are trying to recreate that in NY.

The draft coverage guys were talking about Sanders as soon as the broadcast started and the dude doesn't even go in the first round. LOL that's pathetic.

Kind of a microcosm for his time at CU.

'23 was a ton of hype and **** talking from a bad football team.

Last year better but beat nobody good iirc.

He and the team were actually fun to watch when they just played even if not that good but imo he didn't look very technically sound and I saw a blurb how he had a habit of patting the ball pre-throw etc.

It's a story no matter what so ESPN must be happy in that regard.

You'll hear alot about how the Big 10 had 11 1st Round draft picks last night. You won't hear alot about how all 11 were from Oregon, Penn St, Michigan, & Ohio St.

Rutgers, a Big 10 team, did not play any of those 4 teams last year. These aren't conferences anymore, they're scheduling alliances.

You can afford to do that when you have QB and RB and WR and DB positions solidified. The Giants stacking elite edge on top of elite edge on top of elite edge while having gaping holes at several other positions makes little sense to me.

On Wisconsin
SEC: 15 picks
Big Ten: 11 picks
Big 12: 2 picks
ACC: 2 picks
MWC: 1 pick
FCS: 1 pick
Yeah, not ideal. At least part of that is realignment. 5 of those picks came from new conference members (3 from Texas and 2 from Oregon). But even before that they were getting over 20 picks in the first round.

A couple of thoughts.

The Ohio State-Texas-Georgia CFB World is going to get old really fast. Hell, it already is.

Why in the world would any sane person want to go stand out in a big crowd like that for hours to watch that?

Bah Humbug!
I wouldn’t want to do it now, but I can see it. I think there were things before the draft got started, and then it’s a chance to hang out, drink, be entertained by certain fan bases (i.e. the ones that melt down when their tram’s pick is announced), and see the new face of the franchise.

As poor as a roster as they have, they have to find a strength somewhere, that will be on the D line. I would guess they did not love any of the QB's in this draft and are figuring that the talent in that position will be better in the 2026 draft. You can get great value drafting RB and WR's later in the draft, but they had to find a strength somewhere and that is now the D line.

It’s just a big party. That scene in Green Bay when the kid was walking up to the stage was electric. Would be cool to be there if you were a Packer fan.

Bingo on the first paragraph. It’s not that 26 players were from the SEC/B10. It’s that those 26 players were from 13 schools.

It’s not SEC/B10. It’s blue blood vs non-blue blood (although to be fair 9 different SEC schools had a 1st round pick, so more spread out than the B10).

I’d be curious on how much the Sanders falling stuff is just smokescreen. I get there are some obvious red flags, but I think the “he’s not that good” stuff is overblown. He has as much talent as some of the QBs taken in the first round last year.

For the life of me, I can’t imagine why New Orleans would pass on him if he dropped to them. They are going to be awful either way. They are in cap hell, so a rookie QB contract is a saving grace. Derek Carr is injured and who knows when he’ll be ready (and is terrible anyway). And a Sanders on the roster would increase buzz and ticket sales for franchise.

Even if the Saints didn’t think he was worthy of that high a pick on talent alone, he brings enough intangibles to be worth it imo. Especially considering the current state of the team/franchise.
The Saints may be playing chess while I was playing Checkers if they can snag him in the 2nd round.

I hate these self-gratifying Tweets by scouting services a.) they’re counting 4-stars as “blue-chippers” b.) 81% of first-rounders being rated as 4/5 stars isn’t really that impressive

Show me how many 4/5 stars they ranked that won’t be drafted at all. I bet it’s 30-40%
Talent wins games, the idea that "hard work beats talent when the talent does not work hard" sounds nice, but the more talent you have on the roster, the better the team. Go back and look at the recruiting of the teams in the championship game year after year, and then match them up with where they ranked in recruiting and it's the same teams at the top. We all love the Purdy story, and EIU has had quite a few, low ranked players that have made millions in the NFL, but that is because they were missed on by the rankings, many were injured or just did not get seen and were therefore missed by the ranking services. It's not a perfect system, but they are right most of the time.

The NFL PR department is just the best. They take an event that at most should be only for the hard core fans, and have turned it into must see TV for many. Had over 100,000 people show up for an event to watch kids walk out onto a stage. Moving the draft from city to city just shows everyone how much further along the NFL PR is compared to every other sport.

A lot of people here won't like it, but the Cowboys are in the market for a WR2, probably in the 2nd round. I think either ISU WR would work well opposite CeeDee, though he does line up in the slot a lot.

Jerry Jones loves himself some Big 12 WR's. This wouldn't shock me at all.

Amazing how it's grown from this

Since they weren't going to get Ward I think they should've traded down and stocked up on more picks to use for positions of actual need.
Stop having alternative opinions about NFL Draft picks which are just a gigantic crap shoot at best anyways!
