Man, if she would have hired someone else without asking DeVries first, I think her fans and maybe boosters would have rioted. She was cornered in hiring DeVries, whether she liked it or not.

Now, thanks to Indiana, she can run an open search and hire the best person she sees fit. I think this is actually better for her. DeVries’s is a good coach but he’s not the only one out there, as evidenced by what Drake is doing this year without him.

The bottom line is that there is no one else available to revive them from a fan/NIL standpoint.

I don't doubt the decision to shut Tucker down was due in part to get him another year of eligibility, with another sizable payment to go with it. The idea that Indiana was driving all this is silly.

Does anyone really think Indiana wanted a first year WVU head coach (that ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament) earlier this year? They thought they’d get TJ or Brad Stevens or Scott Drew…not Darian DeVries.

The bottom line is that there is no one else available to revive them from a fan/NIL standpoint.

It's a huge problem they've got.

They want results before they'll truly invest but it's incredibly difficult to get results without investing.

Somebody has to blink first.

Will Wade is gonna get get a power job again.

Fran went to basically 8 tournaments in 11 years

McCollum may be able to do that with similar investment

You are correct, but if one applied Occam’s razor, the choice being DD all along would be the clear winner.

But more likely, they'll get a young up & comer and hope it works out.

How is DD being BG's top choice any simpler or straighter than BM being BG's top choice?

One guy she could talk to immediately, one guy she couldn't. Just because she could talk to DD immediately doesn't mean he's automatically her top choice.
