At this point I think Jokic is probably the most underated player of our times. His per season output is at least as good as LeBron and frequently injured Jamal Murray is the best player he’s ever been paired with.
He’s a top 5-10 player in history if you look at it objectively but people have weird struggles about even saying he’s a top 5 center. Maybe those other legendary centers weren’t very skilled offensively.

Watching the game tonight and he’s on track to be the only player ever to shoot 60% overall and 40% or better from three. That’s crazy efficient and he passes like an all time PG.
I think he’s the best center of all time. He rebounds vs numbers of his era as well as any others (typically best rebounder in basketball), he’s wildly better on offense than any other centers we’ve seen, if his defense isn’t totally elite the gap is not as great as it is between other great centers and joker on offense.
It’s getting really hard to argue with. So hard to compare these guys across eras and guys with such different games, but he has to be the most skilled at that position and I’m not even sure who is second.
LOL I turned it off when Nuggets were down 9 in OT a few minutes in after watching entire game...looks like Jokic had 15 in two minutes or something absurd.
I was in a debate on NBA reddit...mistake I know...and hardly any of them would put Jokic even in the top three centers. Some people were saying Duncan and Robinson were better than him...I'm sorry but those guys played on some good teams but they aren't even remotely close to Jokic.
At this point having Duncan above Joker is like saying Drexler or Wilkens or Worthy is better SG/SF than Kobe and MJ and LeBron.
I've been watching NBA pretty religiously since mid 80s and since that time Jokic is the third best player I've seen and best center I've seen. He's only third best because of LeBron's crazy durability.
I've always considered Duncan a PF.
In my opinion, based on the comment below, Mikan, Russell, Wilt, Shaq, and Jokic are essentially tied for greatest center all-time. Hakeem a possible addition.
No sport really does, but basketball is the least comparable.
Duncan is criminally underrated too.
Jokic is leading the league in assists and rebounds. If that holds through the season, he’ll be the only player to do that ever (and he’s way ahead in assists). He’s also 5th in the league in scoring. The guy is amazing.
Ridiculous ESPN put him on as the last game of the day while Golden State vs Dallas was in a prime slot for two **** teams
The nostalgia effect with basketball is really strong and there seems to be a lot of generational bias. The debates are getting to the point it’s just downright annoying to me as a basketball fan. Not saying that’s what you guys are doing here, BTW.
Using Robinson as an example, his career high in scoring is about the same as Joker but in only 50% shooting. Joker is on pace for over 60% and is a great 3 point shooter (44% currently). Guy is averaging a triple double which only a few guys (guards) have ever done.
Robinson is surely a better defensive player but what we’re seeing from Joker is simply unprecedented. Anyone arguing to the contrary just does not understand basketball.
