People here were complaining about loyalty a couple weeks ago. This is nothing compared to what Whittingham has just done to Utah fans

The **** you talking about? Utah was scared of losing their coach in waiting, so they pushed him out and Wittingham cared enough about his reputation in utah to not force them to buy him out. Time will tell if they made the right choice.

i wanna know why @JakeBrend thinks this will be a disaster?

Whittingham is about as good as you can get from a "culture" standpoint and that's what Michigan needs more than anything right now lol

Only reason this would be a disaster is if there are numerous other skeletons that haven’t come to light and Wittingham exposes those because he isn’t a sleaze ball that seems to synonymous with the typical Michigan man.

Yeah, it appears Utah pushed him out like you said. Thought it was weird that when Whitt said he wasn't retiring but was in the portal....Hope he takes his best guys from Utah including that OL All-American.

He’s gutting their program though for Michigan.

Even though we need the b12 to have teams succeed right now I am not mad at the idea of Utah pushing a coach out, coach retires, but then gets hired by a blue blood in the league Utah thinks they should be in….then takes all their good players basically crippling their team for next year.
That’s like a Netflix series.

Isu and Utah were going to be picked towards the top of the league and now both will be scrambling to put a roster together. CFBall is a tough business.

I do wonder how long it will take before lawyers in one of these NIL contracts decides to file a tortious interference lawsuit against NIL collectives from the new school? Gotta imagine there’s plenty of athletes that aren’t fulfilling the marketing contracts they signed to get their NIL as they’re leaving at the semester and not the end of the year now. So could a good lawyer make an argument that the 3rd party from the new school interfered with that contract? Not sure it would win, but it could make for interesting discovery phase to see just how and when these guys are contacted.

Somehow 'morality' doesn't seem quite right here. Maybe it's because our ethics belief here took quite a hit recently. Regardless, I think there were unseen elements steering this outcome.

Utah will be interesting, you would think with the new guy having been the coach in waiting that players would have expected the change and there wouldn't be an exodus like we have but who knows. Big jobs opening up are driving up the market. I also don't expect KW to gut their program like Matt is doing to ours. It also doesn't seem like Michigan players were jumping ship either so he might not have to.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Michigan contacted him months ago knowing they’d have to make a coaching change at the end of the season with what the AD knew. I don’t know if Utah pushed him out as much as both parties realized he did all he was going to do for that university and it was time for a change.

If Moore could keep it in his pants, I still don’t think Wittingham is coaching at Utah next season. But I think he would have actually retired if it weren’t for the already established program offering him a chance to win right now.

Your conspiracy only makes sense if he was Michigan's top choice but he very clearly was not.

I think it was pretty clear from his resignation press conference that he didn't want to be done coaching. Good fortune for him that Deboer and Brohm said no, though of course he may have figured into those coaching searches too.

So Whittingham spending 20 years at Utah and leaving for a better job is different than Campbell being here for 10 years and leaving for a different job.

I don’t see the difference.
