***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

Campbell’s low buyout is going to be appealing to schools that just spent tens of millions to get rid of their coach.

I also think this coaching cycle has to be pretty eye opening for a guy like Campbell too. He has shown time and time again that he's not chasing the money and the stability he has at as school like Iowa State has to account for something. The SEC and B1G are going to have stupid short leashes and we have hit a point where expectations have outpaced reality.

I agree with that. Especially teams that are completely unstable like a Florida. Florida needs a guy to come in and get that program into shape. Does not mean a National Title, Just needs to get it back in to compete for titles. Campbell could do that. I don't see him being a National Champion coach unless Ohio State or someone with all the money to just out spend everyone on talent.

UCLA is a job that isn't that good anymore. Nobody is showing up and nobody cares. Basically with the exception of Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and Washington. The old Pac 12 just has nobody that cares. Cal get's like 10k a game to show up, same with Stanford, UCLA. West Coast just don't care about college football.

You don't just fix culture at places like Florida without pissing off a lot of people. CMC just doesn't strike me as a guy that is looking to jump tot he SEC. He's not greasy enough for those jobs. Kiffin is going to end up at either Florida or LSU.

I’m just starting to get a gut feeling that Campbell is looking at jobs we never would have expected him to take. The sudden and extreme lack of mental focus from the team begs the inquiry.

I assume we’re all in on Scheelhaase if he goes to Wisconsin or some place similar?

i was thinking the same thing.

If we're talking strictly about onfield success over the last two decades, agreed. However, I'm not 100% certain that equates to a "better job". I keep getting reminded that Alabama and LSU don't have the money that most people think they have. Meanwhile, it's hard to imagine that Florida doesn't have an insane amount of money. If they can ever get their **** together it's not hard to imagine them being a better job than Alabama or LSU - especially in this age where money means so much more.
You could find Five car dealerships that support Florida that have a GDP higher than Bama’s.

So many openings. If you fire your coach now, are you really going to find someone better?
At a certain point with these firings, simply employing someone other than the guy that just got fired is an upgrade. If you reach the point where everyone knows it's over and you can afford to just rip the bandaid off, you do it.

I don't think UCLA is as desirable of a job as it once was.
UCLA has a lot of problems, the Rose Bowl is quite a ways from campus, they are broke and their facilities are good but not great. You are the 2nd fiddle to USC in town, and schools like Oregon have made a huge headway in recruiting in the LA basin the last 10 years. Name will only get you so far, Nebraska has been experiencing that for the past decade.

This measurement shows Florida coming in at #14, LSU is ranked #13 and Alabama #5. Just because the state has a lot of people, most are retired people that do not switch the fandom from the team they were rooting for after moving to Florida.

When its all said and done LSU will spend around $100 million, yahoo sports says.

Kiffin was made for Florida culture. I don’t think LSU has the bag men necessary to lure him in. His salary is one thing, the ability to throw stupid amounts of cash at a recruiting class is what he’s going to want. I’m not even sure if Florida can do that either though.

I kind of wonder if Chip Kelly gets back into being a HC.
The Raiders are bad and be does job hop.

The Athletic mentioned Campbell for one of the earlier jobs and in the write up they were saying they are hearing that he is more interested in an NFL job at this time. He is at the point in his career that he will stay at ISU until the perfect college job opens up ND, Ohio State, and maybe a couple of others or an NFL job like Pittsburgh that is willing to take a chance on a college coach. He has past the point of looking to jump at the first opportunity, and using ISU as a stepping stone.

Someone in that state has to look around and start asking what $100m would do for the people of the state rather than one current and one former resident. Right?

Since most of the money would be coming from private donors, probably not.

Ehh…he might be looking this year. But I don’t think that’s causing the issues.

I don’t believe he doesn’t think about other jobs during the season. But I really don’t think he spends much time on them.
