This is what I don't get... The kid was going to make a ton of money no matter where he went from NIL and other business partnerships. He is business savvy and the money being offered by a program wasn't going to be his only source of income. I don't get why everyone thinks he's only going to Iowa because of money. The kid has been an Iowa fan since he was little and was coached by Jody who has a long history of wrestlers going to Iowa to be hawks. It really isn't that complicated. He wasn't coached by Taylor growing up
I would say Bo will be a 149 in college, trying to stay at 65kg for the next Olympics and Melvin will be a 165 trying for 74kg at the next Olympics. Melvin can easily grow into 174 though, he has a good frame on him
I’ve been wondering the same thing. For starters, NIL will be separate from the $22m that the schools will pay out. I doubt any school uses any of that $22m for wrestling because you will need every dollar of it to try to make the football and basketball teams competitive.
But my understanding is they are trying to set up some sort of clearinghouse that will approve NIL deals to ensure they are “real” NIL and not pay-for-play deals. I guess I’ll believe it when I see it because I can’t imagine how that will really be effective in practice. Now that the genie is out of the bottle I don’t think you can put it back in.
Jax Forrest is committing tomorrow. 4 schools are Penn state Iowa Oklahoma state and Ohio state. So really Iowa and Oklahoma state again. My guess he’s probably a Cowboy

Definitely viewed as the third program but probably getting the number 1 and 2 pound for pound recruits in class of 2026 and number 1 in class of 2027? How’s that make them definitely number 3? Just your own opinion on the staff or what? Oklahoma state has yet to do anything at nationals

There are good shots and bad shots. Trying to hit them for the money is stupid, because that is what we all want. I want $10 million to pay Bo and Deshaun. I want a $25 million new facility.

This is the thing I can't figure out is no one here has said they don't wish we had their money to offer. Just because it is pointed out that they used their money to get some of these guys doesn't mean that's a stupid shot...it is pointing out what is taking place.

Welcome to every non-revenue sport. They all have their passionate fans. I mean, Iowa built a $25M wrestling facility and we tried to get one for $20M. The passion is there so the money is of course there for NIL.

OSU also has been recruiting very well.
Obviously they haven’t done anything at nationals yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get 2nd this year in year 1 of David Taylor.
