Ditto on Rutgers

at this point is this a $ thing and the highest bidder will reap the spoils of what should be an illustrious college career

I mean if Iowa handed teemer 500k for 1 yr

what are we looking at $750k per for 5 ?
Per those facebook posts, they're throwing around $5 million, whatever that comes out to/yr

Or he is saying that because now the shine won't be so bright when he announces it is Iowa and that is very much been his thing in all of this?
If money wasn't involved and you watched the PSU/Iowa dual combined with the last 10 years of results/output from those coaching staffs, an elite wrestler picks PSU 10 times out of 10

Or he is being instructed by someone (draw your own conclusions as to who that is) to say that to take the attention away from the fact that Iowa is throwing ridiculous money to a high school kid, albeit a very talented high school kid.

It's just a crazy world that college wrestling is operating in right now. Yesterday was a shocker to be honest with you all.

Not sure, the kid is pretty genuine. Not naive to think money isn’t a big thing, but if it’s Iowa it’d because he’s been an Iowa fan for years and years since he was young. People forget he trained with Jody and not at David’s club when David was in PA. I’m sure he dropped in, but he grew up with all the kids that went to Iowa to wrestle for the hawks. Deep down he’s a Hawkeye fan.

Why though? His dad is his high school coach and they’re the top team in the nation. Him and his brothers can go to another team and be a big deal. He’s just a part of the Penn state system if he goes there. He likes the challenge of chasing lions as he says, I think he wants to be a part of something that takes Penn state down

Was it one of those where we thought we were in it until the very end?

Well Hendrickson isn’t going to be in the room because he’s active duty when he is done. So tell me again where they have a better HWT training situation than Iowa state? Think before you post.

That notion was shot down the other day. He will be there. I’m also concerned you apparently have no idea who David Taylor is.

ISU has produced 2 AAa at HWT since KD’s arrival. I’m not sure how long the list is of rooms who have produced better results but my guess is there’s a lot of them.

“Think before you post.” My goodness. What color is the sky in your world?

Anyone see the posts on the Facebook wrestling groups? Seen it twice now, according to those graphics, he's head to Iowa Sh!tty

Facebook wrestling groups are worthless sources of information. Maybe they got this right but most of the time they are trash.

Ross was a gut punch

Disagree. He was at best a long shot.

And he beat Hendrickson, but I digress

So what? Lucas Davison and Yara Slavikouski beat Yonger.

I think there is a number of things going on in the recruiting world.

Most I don't know if they will be enforced
1. Roster limit. We have over 40 and do we have to be down to 30 next year.
a. It really limits how hard you go after a lower ranked high school kid.
2. Transfer portal - We will be after a couple guys in the portal.
3. NIL vs Paid by the University.
a. Will any of these NIL deals even be legal?
b. They are suppose to be regulated by the NCAA (Audit company)
c. If kids can opt out of university program, will it really change anything with the private collectives (We Will & Cardinal & Gold Collective)?
4. I would guess all universities are not following the rules the same.
5. Will more lawsuits happen if the NCAA rules these big NIL Cash deals illegal?

I was also listening to Basch podcast. He was talking about Revenue sharing. I mean these smaller big 12 schools we have I don’t see them doing that. Going to be interesting to see what happens

@Ryan Rohlk , from your perspective, if you can elaborate, did we really think we had a chance at Ross? I guess I didn't realize his announcement was going to come so fast. I kind of figured it was going to be a while. Admittedly, I haven't followed any of his social media if he did indeed have a timeline. For me, the timing felt out of no where.

I would think for whatever good Wyatt would do in active duty, he’s easily doing 10x that by bringing attention to the military with interviews on ESPN and potentially making an Olympic team.
How close does Wyatt think he is to being the guy? He's not as good at Kerk at folk, and Greg had a legendary amateur freestyle career. I just don't think Wyatt will ever be the guy at 125 KG

If Gable sticks around, nobody else is the realistic answer. If he doesn’t, Wyatt has a chance in that training environment with David and their ability to bring in world class training partners to learn from

I think if there is no Gable, then Wyatt is a top 3 guy in the US. That is close enough to give it a shot imo.

Guys can definitely make gains. He’s a phenomenal athlete who accomplished most of his success at a non traditional wrestling school. Given the resources available at OSU, it is definitely possible he could make a jump.

Was thinking the same thing Buf if they have to cut down to 30 next year. You might have guys like Alex Facundo at PSU and others since they would have to get to 30. You can't keep everyone so that should help with the portal.
