2025-2026 MBB computer projections thread

I'll admit I saw Batemon out there late in crunch time and had a "huh" moment.

Where's Milan? Your AA all-timer shooter in one of the biggest games of the year?

Or where's Toure? Supposedly the best on-ball defender we have even over Lipsey?

...then Batemon drills two threes and balls out on defense.

Way to go, kid.
I was thinking Milan should go in for Lipsey because he couldn't make a FT. Turns out he made up for it. But Man, i knew he was going to miss both and I think 14k thought the same.

We'd be ruing the FTs that Lipsey kept missing if we'd ended up losing.

I'm sure Houston feels that way about Uzan (career 76%) missing the front-end of a 1&1.

Thank goodness Tamin made up for it by being a monster on the offensive boards.

Gary Parrish has us as a 1 seed right now, and the others are predicting 1st or 2nd highest 2.

The team has earned that respect up to this point. They have a clear path to a 1 seed and will deserve it by winning out. That is all we can ask for as we move into March.
Been a great year, finish strong.

Lipsey FT % has progressively gotten worse… in watching his shooting form, he is pushing the ball out instead of the “ up and out” form of the perfect form shooter. This is happening on both his long range shooting and free throws… probably the result of all his recent shoulder issues .

The guy is just never 100% healthy.

Someday it is going to come out just how badly hurt all the time he's been.

I've figured shoulder pain has contributed to it.

Can someone explain how we are the 2 seed in nearly every BracketMatrix expert's predictions with Michigan as the 1? I thought the overall #1 would be pitted against the last #2 seed which ain't us. Is it based on region/closeness to home?
CW & Blum used this the other night and it sums up the committee's process thoroughly.

The one thing I don't like about Parrish's bracket is he places two Big 12 teams as the 1 and 2 seeds in the same region. Probably not strictly against the bracketing rules but how are we going to have an all Big 12 Final Four if they do crap like that?

:p

Each of the other guys put Iowa State, Houston, Arizona, and Kansas in different regions.

From all the brackets that I look at, I'm fairly convinced that about 75% of them ignore all the bracketing rules when making their guesses.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that especially early in the season and down the bracket. But when it is late February and especially late February and you are predicting the top half of the seeds, I would think you would want to start taking that into account.

I know that the BYU fans blow a gasket everytime they see a bracket that predicts they will be playing in a region with Friday/Sunday games.

A First Four game for Miami(OH) just seems wrong. An (possibly) undefeated season should mean at least a little more than that.
Why did they give Akron the auto bid? That's goofy. Purposely assuming worst case on bid stealers?

That's how he's always shot it. It's why he's so consistently short when he misses.

It is strictly against bracketing rules. Top 4 teams in a conference will be in different regions unless the conference has more than 9 teams or other higher priority rules prevent it. None of those higher priority rules are in play for the Big 12 top 4 teams.

When I see a player consistently missing shots short I think it is usually a issue in the legs - just not able to get the strength from the legs that the shooter is used to so each shot comes up a little short despite their upper body doing what their muscle memory is telling them is the correct shot.

Sorry for the long, terrible run-on sentence.

Lots of gnashing of teeth about FT's. Oddly I'm not that concerned about it. As long as the disparity of FT made between the 2 teams are relatively close.

Also, I'm a believer of over a long enough timeline players shoot what their % is. Which means Jefferson and Tamin are shooting below their career % which indicates that more makes are due in the future. These makes are going to happen at crucial junctures.

Another point, Uzan, a 80% FT shooter missed a critical one. What good was his FT% there?

Make them when it matters.

Just heard Matt Norlander from CBS Sports on the Jim Rome show and he was part of the committee that will reveal the first 16 seeds tomorrow as they stand now. He is of the opinion that there is not much that can change the top four (Michigan, Duke, Arizona, and Houston) regardless of the outcome of the games remaining. Didn’t go into a lot of depth to preserve the purpose of the show, but made it sound like they were pretty much set in stone.

weird since he wrote a story that i linked earlier today in a thread about how razor thin it was between ISU and Houston for the final 1 seed

This won't happen...but it would be pretty outrageous if Houston losing its last three regular season Quad 1 games didn't matter at all, at least with Illinois and Iowa State on its heels. That said, I always have capacity for Iowa State getting jobbed
