2025-2026 MBB computer projections thread

My predictions:
- Won't lose 4 games prior to post season play.
- Will be ranked #1 at some point.
- Undefeated non-con
- Will get to 20-0
- Will make at least the Elite 8.

I'm not afraid - let's go!
If they get to 20-0, home against Colorado is next. I doubt that's a loss. ;)

You ************.
Look, I’m not advocating they tempt fate and actually do it!

I’m just saying the metrics suggest they could frost their tips and win some tournament games.

Hell, they could probably wax their eyebrows and get their nails done and still make it to the second weekend the way they played Saturday.

At least we don't have Florida A&M on the schedule this year.

It will still be a tough game for sure, always is, but this is the least nervous I've been about a KU road game in years. Not just because of our team. KU doesn't look like they have a great deal of depth (by KU standards).
I expect ISUs defense to really bother their freshman scorer. Outside of him, they are not a great scoring team.

Yeah, KU looks like they'd be really hard to handle if you're giving them a lot of live ball turnovers and letting them score in transition. From what I've seen, get them in the half court and their offense looks a bit awkward.

Top 3-player lineup combos by net rating among high major teams. Love seeing the evolution of the offense this year.
Blum emphasized over the offseason how big of a deal it was to return all three of Jefferson/Lipsey/Mom. I underestimated just how big of a deal that was. Despite losing our two leading scorers and our starting center, we returned 56% of our minutes-played from last year, and 50% of our scoring. I doubt there are more than a handful of teams in the country that can say that.

Looks like we are 15th on Experience on KP and 25th on Continuity. So near the top on both. Purdue and UCONN are above us for Continuity but the rest are smaller conference schools it looks like.

Yeah, the halftime show commented on how Purdue retained an insane amount of their scoring, but ISU was built the same way - improvement by retaining your players rather than just building a new team from the portal.

Get past Iowa (and I don't think they're great, but I do believe they're still dangerous in a rivalry game even in Hilton) and the next "serious" chance of losing a game is at Baylor or at Kansas.

14-0 (1-0) start sounds nice

Might be hard to find a chance to pass Michigan, though.

They don't have any truly scary games until at Michigan St. on January 30.

I am absolutely fine if we meet Michigan in the title game and they are #1 and we are #2.

I spent the last day trying to remember what game this reminded of. I knew there was one but the mind isn't a steel trap or even mousetrap anymore and have been under the weather.

Then I realized it was the Michigan Tourney game in MSP - That was the last time I was as excited about an ISU team as I am now - not that we were that great of team, but how it put us on the map at a new level, how we were the talk of the MBB world for a few days, etc.

Let's do it again in April!

I was there to witness Horny's double buzzer beater. Damn I just dated myself.
