Maryland's QB just got double targeted on the same play. Up 36 to 7

If Miami loses to Florida, the ACC is in a world of hurt.
It’s going to lead to lots of belly aching from the SEC when Clemson gets a first round bye in the CFP while someone like Tennessee/Ole Miss gets left out of the playoffs altogether. The SEC commissioner has already been pushing for no conference auto-bids and this only helps his case if the ACC has no worthy teams.

Edit to add that I hate the SEC but it feels like they have 5 teams that could probably win the ACC.

To an extent they'll have a point because the ACC outright sucks... but the Big 12 is also part of the reason why the SEC wants to eliminate auto qualifiers and byes. If they had their way they'd split the playoff 6-6 with the Big 10, even if the Big 12 is already worthy of at least 1 or 2 of the spots the Big 10 is going to get due to media bias.

It has been a terrible slate of competitive games today. All blowouts. Hopefully the night window provides some good games.

SIAP. Not sure how this is disallowed but straight up pay for play is?

I’d imagine that this is purely because the collectives are supposed to be separate from the athletic department. If this were a QR does that linked to the OSU athletics page, I wonder if that would be allowed?

Interesting situation for Bama / WKU. WKU’s communication system is not working. So by rule neither side can use them. Wonder if a coach would ever purposely have their comm system go down if they think it’s give them an advantage if they practice signal calling vs a team that is expecting to use the communication system? Or if a coach thinks the comm system takes away from a home field advantage.

Edit: not suggesting this was on purpose from WKU. Just a thought for some of the less scrupulous coaches out there.

IMO they should all be able to have a personal Venmo account somewhere on their jersey or helmet. That seems to be more in the spirit of NIL than any of the current collectives and pay for play.

ND going with Under Armour is still so weird IMO. I guess they like being the biggest fish in the smallest pond.

Just sad seeing Oregon State with the PAC 12 logo still on the field followed by a graphic showing players (and coach) that left.

Goddam shame

The spirit of NIL is to be able to use your likeness for advertisers or endorsements, not to play. To have a Venmo on your jersey is about as direct pay to play as you can get. Of course, the collectives have gone to a pay to play model with very little of the NIL requiring any sort of use of the athletes’ name, image, or likeness for anything beyond playing the games. I’m fine with the NCAA controlling what they can with NIL.
