Hasn't it been like that the past few Olympics since they keep pumping their athletes with roids?Yeah. I though they could still compete. Just not under the Russian flag.
If the Russian flag not being there cheapens the event, not really sure what to tell you.
Don't care in the least that they can't compete under the flag and don't really care what the reason is. The athletes can compete and that's good enough. I don't know why you would assume any Russian athlete doesn't cheat since they have had, and most likely still do have, a state sponsored doping program. I would assume they do cheat until proven otherwise.I think we are talking about different things. If athletes are known to be cheating, they should not be allowed to compete, regardless of country. I agree with this wholeheartedly.
They are not being sanctioned/banned during this Olympic cycle for systematic cheating though. They have athletes who can compete, who I would assume are clean and not cheating. The fact that those athletes cannot compete as a team/country is my beef.
I do expect them to play better, but this team is a combination of old, soft and just not particularly good.
- LeBron is 85
- Anthony Davis is fragile, and yet one of the more physical guys we have
- Curry is old and dinged up
- Embiid is a gigantic puss
- Durant isn’t playing because of an injury (he’s probably the key to this team winning) and…old
- Tatum isn’t old, but he’s a flake
- Jrue Holiday is a decent defensive player, but nothing special and, well, he’s old
- Booker is nothing special/ bordering on terrible
- Adebayo is nothing special
- Derrick White? Give me a break
- Haliburton has apparently been benched
- Anthony Edwards is a stud, but I just don’t know if he’s ready for this kind of basketball yet. It should be good experience for him
Just not a good roster. Add to it Kerr sucks, and here we are.
They should medal, but even that isn’t a guarantee. If they win gold, I will be absolutely shocked.
I think having two 5s that struggle to stay healthy may have been a bad move but maybe it'll be fine in a short spurt.
Globally basketball is just so different now and USA's best just may not hold up as well.
The team that got bronze, was it 08? They barely played LeBron on that team and he arrived in the nba as an immediate top ten player.
An all youth team wouldn’t win because they didn’t last summer but they have to gel the two generations.
In some of these exhibitions it’s been like thank goodness they have old age LeBron. I’ve also always thought Kerr is a little overrated as a coach, I like the guy and he’s a good coach but I don’t think he’s some genius who revolutionized the sport, rather a transformative player landed in his lap.
Here we go.Sounds like there's a bug going thru USA men's bball team.
Davis sick the other day, Embiid today.
Davis is maybe the most important player.
Apparently steroids and amphetamines. For real. What drugs are you taking to be suspended for ping pong?
Must need that twitch for ping pong.Apparently steroids and amphetamines. For real.
I'm going to have to figure out how to do that!Just discovered the Olympics Multiview feature on Peacock... 4 events at once... could be dangerous.
That’s a great documentary. Starts going in one direction and then - surprise! - swerves into something else entirely. While we are on the subject of Russian doping, anyone who hasn't seen Icarus should go watch it. One of the best and most fascinating documentaries I have ever seen.
