Oh shocker the men’s team can’t get handoffs correct. You all are insanely fast and all within milliseconds of each other across all of the teams. The 4x100 is ALL about the handoffs unless you have a Usain Bolt or Richardson like we just saw for the women. Jesus.

I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again, I’m tired of the US choking these Olympics. That relay is the perfect example of it

Do they not work on this stuff?
They do but, from what I understand, not like other countries. The US doesn’t build their relay teams until after trials, so they can’t really practice with each other until after. Short window between trials and the games. Other countries know what their relay team will be (barring injury), and they work together throughout the year.

I mean, choking on the men's 4x100 isn't unique to this year. It's a tradition at this point.

They keep changing the lineup and that can't help. Still they should all be on the same page.

I'm shocked every Olympics that they aren't set on the relay teams way in advance. I'm sure there's a reason. That has to be a lot of drama for various athletes. In some ways the individual sports/events are so much more pressure but it's also nice to know there's no coach's decision putting you in or out of the game.

I read once that they really don't. They just throw the best runners together with little practice with the handoffs.
It's constantly changing too. They run different teams for different heats to save the legs of the best runners who are running in other events, and sometimes you have scratches so you dont know who's going to be available. Still, these guys should all be used to running relays since they were in middle school.

Ato Boldon just explained it and thinks change is coming for the Americans. The change would be identifying 6-8 guys, those 6-8 are your relay team, and they schedule separate training just for relays.

This is how other countries do it. The US has to change or they will continue to **** it up.
