SGA was the MVP this year. He has established himself as the best player in the planet. I thought he was last year.

I think the most exciting players are in Denver (also clearly the best player in the world), Indy, LA and Minnesota. Three out of 4 small markets. I like fun plays, not markets.
I'd rank SGA #2 player but maybe #10 I'd want to watch for fun, Obi Toppin and Williams were more fun to watch in finals. FWIW Duncan was always like that for almost every fan all the way to being a legend. You don't have to be everybody's favorite exciting player to win the most.
You must be a die-hard Thunder fan, I get it. If it was Hali/Pacers vs Spurs in the finals I'd cheer for the Spurs.
But it's Jokic. And then hopefully it's Wemby soon if his clots don't come back.

What's that got to do with me hating Thunder basketball? He had an incredible run in the playoffs and he is the engine that runs Pacers basketball. I don't think he's overrated or underrated. He's not a superstar (yet) but a leader of his team.
SGA is only MVP for the same reason LeBron and Jordan didn't win MVP every year. Some other year he might actually be the best player though, he's young.
Jokic's line is objectively better, very possibly the greatest of all time. I think it's better than any single season Jordan line.

Hali losing has nothing to do with my hatred of the Thunder. That comes from being a Spurs fan and Thunder's horrific basketball style of play. Oh, and it's Oklahoma.

Jordan only has 5 MVPs and LeBron only 4 MVPs. Both have 8 seasons were they were statistically the best player and another 1 or 2 in the mix.
Jokic has obviously been the best player five years straight, but he only has 3 MVPs. It's about the same ratio. The fact that Embiid got one over Jokic is 10x more laughable than SGA this year who was at least a strong contender. In absolutely no way would I have ever picked Embiid over Jokic and they're even similar positions. Joker shot 63%fg for season and won the title the year they gave it to Embiid.

It's a regular season award and Jokic had the best regular season...very possibly EVER.
SGA got one via MVP fatigue, and unlike say Karl Malone he got his title too.
I worry that 4th quarter of game 4 will haunt the Pacers for a very long time. They don't lay an egg at the start of that quarter and they are champions IMO and possibly don't lose Hali for next season.
Re game 4 people going back and forth here with the classic blame the officials and blame the Pacers for letting foot off the gas...as usual it was a mix of both.
This OKC team is goes 98-0 if they're allowed to be as physical on D as they were in that comeback...but the Pacers offense still could have been better through it. Both are true.
It's an awesome season anyway, most fun I've had with basketball possibly ever. I can't believe every ISU fan wasn't along for the ride. There's absolutely nothing wrong with NBA playoffs if someone likes basketball, all the NBA legit gripes mostly apply to the regular season. The playoffs are the ultimate sports/reality tv every season.
