The fact Notre Dame is flirting with the top 10 and has a home loss to Northern Illinois this early in the season is all you need to know.

If that resume (which does have a really good win at A&M) belonged to any Big 12 team and all but a couple of ACC teams, they wouldn’t even be in the top-25. Northern Illinois has proven they aren’t very good. Got beat at home by a Buffalo team that lost 47-3 to UConn. Yes, UConn…

Depends on who the 3-4 losses are, look at Mizzou, they beat an ok BC team but were manhandled by A&m, they'll only play two more rated teams ( ou, bama) and will likely play 5 conference games against teams teams will a losing record and UMASS. If they lose to OU and Bama but will the rest, that's a really flimsy 9-3, a big 12 team with a similar resume wouldn't sniff a bid but we'll have big 10 and SEC teams with those numbers that get in every year.
Was gonna post same.
9-3 mizzou would have best win of like... arkansas?

But georgia could go 9-3 w losses to bama, texas, and tennessee. With a couple decent wins. Thats night and freaking day to mizzou.

Crazy how unbalanced schedules can be. Also stupid.

Techs resume is better than ND and they arent sniffing the top 25 at 5-1

In the no playoff beauty queen era this Vandy loss knocks them out.

In the 2 team playoff era it probably knocks them out.

In the 4 team playoff era it makes them a bubble team and they probably have to win SEC.

In this 12 team playoff they need to lose 2 more to be on the bubble.

Hmmm … as compared to an undefeated ACC champion who got left out of the playoff because their quarterback got hurt? You have more faith in the committee’s ability to look past the Alabama name than I do … :)

Reason #7,386 why conferences of 14/16/20/32 teams are ridiculous.

Iowa is going to move down significantly in those rankings after today. Coming into today, it is what it is.
Looks like Iowa moved down three spots following yesterday's loss, from #18 to #21, currently has the #9 SoS in the country.

I guess 3 spots isnt "significantly" But down nonetheless.

Welcome to the the club, we have usually had a top 20 SoS for years, guess you can claim that for once. Must be nice that you Iowa State gives you that bump, even in a loss. (Isnt that what hawk fans say about ISU) Seems like the Iowa game is dragging us down not the other way around.

Also your SoS is being propped up currently by playing your 2 strongest teams early, it will most likely start to slide down as they play the rest of their schedule, while ISUs will go up as they play the rest.

Sure its not perfect, but I dont think I have seen you post any system that is better at rating teams.

Iowa's the highest rated team you've played. By a lot.

Not that we will play..... Read what I said again. KSU is 14th. So that will help ours, Everyone left on Iowas schedule will bring theirs down.

Almost all of our remaining schedule is above our current SoS rank which will bring ours up.

Lol, you have no idea where KSU will be rated in 7 weeks. They play @ Colorado, @WVU before playing you. You have no idea where any of your remaining opponents will be in future weeks. Preseason polls had both Kansas and Okie State ranked. Where does that stand now? The simple fact is that nearly halfway into ISU's season, Iowa is the highest rated team you've played by far. I don't think we'll end up being the highest rated team ISU plays but after this weekend, banking on future opponents being highly rated seems kind of silly.

Still waiting for you to post a better system.

Sagarin is not preseason guesses. Like the polls, perfect no, but still wondering what you got that is better.

As many have said looking at Iowas season history, going from early season to end of season most things that rank their SoS have it worse by the end not better.

You are saying I have said things I havent.

I don't know what you're asking. Lol. Sagarin has been the go-to ratings system for SoS around here forever. It's the system that others in this thread have said is more legit than all those biased human polls. I have zero problem with Sagarin. All I've ever said is if you're going to use Sagarin for SoS you have to use it for overall team ratings, because that's what its SoS rankings are based on.

You seem to be deflecting. Just because KSU is rated #14 by Sagarin today doesn't mean they're going to be #14 in 7 weeks. Lol. Maybe they'll be higher, maybe they'll be lower. Nobody knows, even you. That's the point. I'm saying that you claiming KSU's #14 rating today means they'll be #14 in November when you guys play and therefore bump up your SoS is nonsense. They could lose to CU. They could lose to WVU. They could lose to both, or neither, but lose to someone else. Nobody knows as of today.

You also appear to be saying that Iowas SOS will be as high or higher than it is now. Which It can only go down. All of their future opponents are FAR below ISU or OSU. Unless you think some of those will miraculously skyrocket to the top somehow.

While most of ISUs future are currently ranked higher than what they have played so far. Sure they could go down, or up, but mostly they can only help our SoS more than hurt, as many would have to go down significantly to go down. Iowas SoS is being propped up because you lost to the #2 and #11 teams and obviously the SoS took a huge jump this week playing OSU.

Its simple averages. Unless you can name multiple teams that will likely be in the top 10 when you play them, those will all bring Iowas SOS of 9th down. For instance, ISU plays the #27 team Iowa plays the #34 team, this will bring ISU up and Iowa down. Unless you believe somehow Washington will jump to the top 10 in the next week.

Lol, no I didn't. Go back and read post #870. I said Iowa "currently has the #9 SoS in the country."

C'mon dude. You're usually better than this.

And all I said was Iowas will most likely go down, and ISUs up. You are right I dont know that for sure, but I can say I am pretty confident in that. I mean this week alone will make that happen.
