part of it is probably from results in past Olympics when USA and Canada have gone head-to-head; part of it is probably the current political environment.

for all of our complaints about ABC/ESPN when it comes to nearly every sport, especially college football (SEC), MLB (Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers), NFL (Cowboys, Chiefs), college basketball (SEC, Duke), NBA (Lakers, Celtics)... despite all of the shoving their choice teams down our collective throats in the other sports, their NHL coverage is top notch.

I know I'm bringing this up decades after the fact, but the NHL canning the "2 line pass" violation is one of the best rule changes they have ever made.

And I think it’s the first time since the 2016 Olympics that professional hockey players have been on the international stage
