The fact that they are #3 in NET shows just how flawed that formula is.

Nah, it does what its supposed to.

NET isn't resume. So, you shouldnt look at their #3 net and think they deserve the #3 seed based on that. (There are other metrics that are better for that.)

NET, however, says "how hard was this team to beat" on everyone else's team sheet. And Houston, both through dominating Q2 teams and close losses to top teams, has shown it is extremely tough to beat. So they deserve to be super high up on anyone else's team sheet.

Yeah I get that but it wasn't originally designed to fall in line with those models. It seems like over the last 2-3 seasons they have put more weight into the offensive efficiency numbers. It really contradicts the committees "who did they play/beat" narrative that they always fall back on.
They don't use the NET Rankings to seed teams, they use the resume which consists of your quadrant wins. Houston being third does not mean they would be a 1 seed and ahead of ISU if the tournament were today. Not anywhere close to that.

I also have no clue how NET is specifically calculated and weighted. It makes very little sense too often.
Do you think Kenpom makes sense? They are very close to the same. It's funny how many people ***** about the NET but Kenpom is considered the gold standard and the majority of teams are within a couple of spots of being the same in both of those rankings.

Also, Torvik has the Cyclones on the #1 line now...

Probably something like this...

Cleveland = #8 Michigan / #9 Florida
Denver = #13 Kansas / #14 Arizona
Lexington = #1 Auburn / #3 Tennessee
Milwaukee = #4 Iowa St. / #7 Illinois
Providence = #11 Kentucky / #12 Purdue
Raleigh = #2 Duke / #6 Alabama
Seattle = #15 Mississippi / #16 Mississippi St.
Wichita = #5 Houston / #10 Marquette

Big 12 right now...

#1 Iowa St.
#2 Houston
#4 Kansas
#4 Arizona
#7 West Virginia
#7 Baylor
#7 Texas Tech
#11 (Dayton) BYU

Cincinnati is the second-team out.

UCF, Utah, Arizona St., and TCU are still alive but need to get some work done.

Speaking of Dayton, these clowns seem to be salvaging their season...

I don’t care about or follow Kenpom.

Hey, CU, do you suppose you could win a game or two? You are currently 1/8 of our schedule played and we still have to play you a third time. You are dragging down our metrics...
It would've been nice if Dayton hadn't decided to completely **** the bed as well.

Hi I'm non-con Dayton and I have DirecTV
Hi I'm A10 play Dayton and I eat crayons

I want no part of Illinois. They've been up and down, but when they're playing well, they looked like the type of team we'd struggle against.

Hard to take this seriously with Michigan as a 2 seed. Or is this a typo and they actually mean Michigan State?
