No thanks to Noah Carter
Carter would not be a bad addition to the team. He can play. He just would not be the star of the team. He causes some problems though. If he had those numbers with any other college and hit the transfer portal. We would all want him. Problem is he plays for UNI. I mean he averages 15 points and 4 rebounds for a good UNI squad. That is better than a lot of guys we are going after and at a higher level of competition.
He’s definitely more active than Enruna! Can shoot the 3!

He isn't a paint guy, so Conditt & Jones would play ahead of him. The exception would be if we went small with combo of Enaruna, Kunc and Carter. TJ played small some, but mainly due to matchups or light an offensive spark.

Carter is more Kunc and pretty much opposite type player as the junk yard dog, rebounding machine Kenny Pratt was.

That said, I would take Carter in a second. My expectation would be a key bench player. Would think TJ went hard after Tre King at semester, expecting King to be our 4.
From the comments from a transfer from Maryland said TJ told him they need several players next year so maybe not many senior’s returning!

Aside from all of the transfer/recruiting elements, I would send anyone promised minutes for next season to "Jake Sullivan School." 6 months of 1000 shots day, under Jake's stark supervision. Wrist, elbow, rotation, "shooting instead of thinking," etc.
Will this magically turn any of these guys into Steph Curry, or even Matt Thomas? Of course not. But why would this aspect of the game not lead the list of "If you're not getting better, you're getting worse"?
Slagging players for poor shooting, or just accepting that they're poor shooters and trying to band-aid it by supposedly emphasizing other aspects of their game, is not fair to them, and is basically negative reinforment.
I really believe some of these guys, e.g., Gill, can become more than just adequate 3-point threats, eg. Turn two or three 25% guys into a 34% guys, and then we can talk about "becoming UVA or Villanova."

Now, the play of the bigs? That's a whole 'nuther can of worms.

Gonna be hard to get up 1000 shots a day when Jake is making the guys do 10000 Hail Marys and our fathers a day. Dude changed, basketball isn’t his mission any longer. It’s just a tool to indoctrinate.

I don't know if that's true in regards to playing ahead of Condit, Jones, and Enaruna, but if it is, he's likely a take. You don't generally pass on guys with two years left that are better than 3 seniors currently in your rotation. I don't think difference maker in the Big 12 is the bar.

Conditt and Jones play as much as they do because of defense. I don't see Carter giving that. And the perception of Enaruna would a lot different and he be an All-MVC guy if he playing that many minutes at UNI.
Much better scorer than any of the three you named!

I mean, do you want all discussion here to be

"Welp, don't know anything about this player so lets wait and see, as i am not a paid member of the staff that means i cannot possibly form any opinions given what is available to me"

Because that sounds very boring
I just hope we are going after tough athletic kids who can shoot free throws!

I could be wrong, but I think our offense struggles this year were mostly personnel. We didn’t have a consistent post threat, 3 pt shooting, or someone great at attacking the rim. Our best player was predominately a jump shooter, when the shots were falling we were good. I think Hunter will get better at attacking the rim, he could get there this year just inconsistent finishing. We won the way we had to win with the talent we had following a rough couple years. Hopefully we keep the defense and grit with a more consistent offense.

Enaruna can shoot the 3, but it's hard to get shots when you only play 2 minutes a game.
I mean, he attempted a total of 4 threes in non-conference when he was generally playing 15-20 minutes a game. I always wanted him to take more, because I thought he could and it would add flexibility to the offense, but he never did even when he was getting playing time.

That's distressing to hear, but I believe you.
Send them to "Matt Thomas School" then (a figurative term).

Villanova beats Houston 50 -44, so I guess defense doesn't win? Need better shot selection and better 4's with the recruits coming in.

I'm going to add free throw shooting to that...and outside shooting in general. If you look at the stats for that game they're almost identical for both teams. The difference was free throw shooting and 3pt shooting. Villanova was 15/15 while Houston was 9/14 at the line. And Villanova was 5/21 (24%) from 3 while Houston was 1/20 (5%)

So give me a team that plays great defense, gets to the free throw line and makes at least 75-80% of them, can at least hit 25-30% of their 3s (I'd prefer about 35%) and scores at least 50 points...I think that would win a lot of games in the Big 12 and in the tournament.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Villanova is an excellent defensive team and held a top 10 offense to 44 points. I would say defense played a big part in the victory.

Question for those obsessed with Enaruna. Do you honestly think the season would have turned out better if he would have got more playing time?

The new 247 guy has heard rumblings that Joey Hauser may not be happy at Mich State.
No confirmed interest from either side, but he'd fit the profile of a guy TJ would go after.

Likely Michigan State is not happy with Hauser either. I know some fans are upset with his inconsistencies much like us with Gabe.
