Miller and Condon just said they are both hearing from multiple people that AJ is headed to Ames. Trent said he's been hearing it for a couple of weeks.

I agree, and I had been of the opinion he would not come. But recent info seems to support a fairly high probability that he may end up in Ames. Time will tell. Just sharing what I hear.
Anyone that has watched a game has watched more UNI basketball than me this year. But… Noah Carter is a 6’6” power forward, about 30% from 3, and about 4 rebounds a game in the Valley. What am I missing? He sure as hell isn’t going to play the 5 here - you’re going to have him try to defend Lampkin instead of Conditt or Jones? Right. I just don’t see how his game translates to what we need for the price of a scholarship.
I don't recall ever seeing Carter Play but size and 3pt % sound similar to Burton who did play some small ball 5 for us. I would assume that Carter isn't as physical or have the bounce Burton did but just saying he's 6'6" so he can't do it when Burton was listed as 6'5" is narrow minded. I also don't think we need to use a scholarship on him, but for now I will trust TJ to do whatever he wants.
He isn't a paint guy, so Conditt & Jones would play ahead of him. The exception would be if we went small with combo of Enaruna, Kunc and Carter. TJ played small some, but mainly due to matchups or light an offensive spark.
Carter is more Kunc and pretty much opposite type player as the junk yard dog, rebounding machine Kenny Pratt was.
That said, I would take Carter in a second. My expectation would be a key bench player. Would think TJ went hard after Tre King at semester, expecting King to be our 4.

Hunter doesn't have far to go to be a 15ppg scorer. He averaged 11.3ppg in Big12 games this season. He did that taking 10 shots pg and shooting 41% overall and 28% from 3.
He has the benefit of having the ball in his hands A LOT. The analytics guys could probably give you an exact %. If Tyrese takes a couple more shots pg and hits a higher % (especially from 3), he'll be a 15ppg guy.
The biggest variable is the talent around him. If we have Brockington, Tre King and a transfer scorer in next year's starting lineup, then Hunter may not see a jump in shots per game and only score 10-12ppg.
Personally, I expect Tyrese to be an AA before he leaves Ames, so 15ppg will be in the rear view mirror.
Well yeah, but big 12 championship, and final 4 is everyone's ceiling, every year.

Burton was stronger with a higher vertical than most guys in the NBA. Huge outlier physically. I think it's safe to assume if a player is 6'6" that they're not going to be able to hang with the good post players in the B12.
Yes, I would disagree. Maybe it's just differing opinion's on what "ceiling" means. My ceiling is something there is a reasonable shot at. Something that wouldn't "shock" me if it happens. We have a long way to go to match the talent of KU and Baylor. Winning the Big 12 would shock me next year, no matter who we sign this offseason.
I don't like to use the NCAA tournament success as a barometer. It's too random.
My ceiling: 3rd place in Big 12 and a 3-5 NCAA seed.
Floor: 9th place in Big 12 and don't make the tourney. This can change based on who we get for transfers and who comes back.

11.4ppg, 6.1 apg, 2.2 spg, and 43% from 3
The problem is that he's only shot 34% on 2-pt shots in those same games. That's his biggest area of improvement - finishing at the rim. (or maybe just getting foul calls when fouled...)
I agree that for the most part it is safe to assume, and yes Burton was a freak but not having seen Carter I just don't know and all in all that is TJ's choice to make. I was just pointing out that it is possible to contribute as a small ball 5 at 6'5".
That's waaay to low for ceiling - by that definition, which matches my own - assuming we do well in the transfer pool. Even if that's losing Brockington and Conditt and replacing them with Green and Grant Basile (or another starting stretch 5).
A starting 5 of Hunter, Kalscheur, Green, T. King and Basile, with Grill, Kunc and the freshmen coming off the bench should be a Top 15 team preseason. And if a team is Top 15 preseason, then you are in the running for conference title and Final 4 (as a ceiling).
Nobody seems to ever point out he can still accomplish B after doing C.
I think Burton played about 18 minutes at the 5 that year. Also, this is kind of like pointing out that Spud Webb played in the NBA and was only 5’6”. There’s a reason it’s only happened once.
I’ll have no objections if he (Carter) ends up here - it’s not like (Coach) Green doesn’t know what he’s getting - it’s just that, between his stats, his measurables, our needs, and his dad’s Twitter game, it doesn’t seem like a take at all.

I think there is a place for a 6’4” guard, the 2 time MVC player of the year, great student, 40% from 3 and 94..% free throw shooter. He is a natural 2, but played a fair amount of point guard. Lipsey will not be b12 ready. Need a point guard backup too. Maybe you are assuming IB and Gabe both return. If they do not we need a shooter. If they do, Greene would easily be in the guards rotation. Will he be all b12 / I doubt it. Would be a solid add imo.
