NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

The Panthers didn't get a first round pick for McCaffrey, but you can make a case that a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th is arguably better for a team with as many holes as Carolina has, especially considering that even though Christian is still relatively young, he's approaching the point where most running backs start seeing diminishing returns. Throw in his injury history, and the Panthers should be ecstatic about the haul they got for him.

For the 49ers, this is a win now move, which is sort of crazy to think about, given that Garoppolo nearly wasn't on the roster and they lost the "future of the franchise" in Lance, for the season.

Agree. Panthers have a complete rebuild on offense to do. They're fairly good on the other side contractually and talent wise. Niners basically get McCaffrey for peanuts financially for the next 18 months.

IF he stays healthy, he fits in pretty well with the 49ers, especially as a playmaker on the outside getting the ball out of Garoppolo's hands quickly. As a pure running back though, his yards per expectation are pretty terrible though the past 3 years (I think being negative for 2 of those years).

I could imagine this as a negative, Deebo needs the ball more not less.

Some surprising scores right now.

Detroit hanging with Dallas.
Carolina up by multiple scores on Tampa
Green Bay in a close one with Washington

As a Carolina fan I love the trade. We did the best for both parties. Love Christian but he’s so injury-prone and his talent is wasted with an organization that is in such a rebuild.

He’s on a much better team now and Carolina got a lot of picks out of it to try and find players to fill the big gaps like you said. Love it.
