They had him out there as a decoy. Defense might have expected them to try to feed it to him after the big play. Football is a chess match
That throw was 60 yds in the air.... and how long did the OL have to block for Allen to get it off? 3.5 secs or so it looks like.
So a 30-40 yd fly pattern would require blocking for about 2 secs..... but some people don't think we can't throw deep because our OL can't protect that long? Bullsh*t. Throwing downfield doesn't really take any longer really than a down and out pattern or a drag route that we always run.
While I understand the sentiment, it's not like Breece is a FB or an "off the bench" RB that doesn't see the endzone a whole lot - he's their starting first option RB. He's going to see his TDs this season, so while it would have been nice to reward him, the Jets have the chance to put the Dolphins on the ropes early.
