2022 NCAA FB Coaching Carousel

Jackson State has been getting fantastic commits because of the name Jackson State, not because of the name Deion Sanders
The best recruit in last years class went to JSU because he wanted to be coached by Deion, he said it himself. Kids know who Deion Sanders is.

Or at least their dads do.

Deion had the career every high school hot shot thinks they are going to have.

I must be missing something, what is so attractive about Deion Sanders?

If you are referring to Travis Hunter you are only half correct. He has also multiple times mentioned the allure of playing at HBCU. Which is why I don't think its a done deal he follows Deion - if he enters the portal, a crap ton of schools with more NIL money than Colorado will come calling.

But here's my thing regarding Deion - sure, kids will want to play for him and he can probably recruit reasonably well and the portal may help him.

-------BUT ---------------

he was the biggest fish in a tiny, tiny pond. The SWAC as a football conference is just - well, as nicely as I can say this, BAD. So at Jackson State he had some built in advantages, then of course bringing in his own allure and charisma and taking transfers from lower tier FBS schools that could dominate at that level = a lot of winning.

This is a huge jump. He's going from a huge fish in a tiny pond to a tiny fish in a medium pond. That's going to take some adjustment. Not to mention, I question the overall commitment and support to football at Colorado. They have some history, yes, but most of that was a while ago.

I think he's an improvement over Dorrell, for sure and I think he might be able to get them back to respectability. But I saw people yesterday talking about how he was going to have them potentially playing for conference titles in 3 years or so and I mean.... I kinda doubt that.

Satterfield to Cincinnati seems like a huge deal and I’m not seeing much news on it. Someone is leaving the ACC for the Big 12. Feels like great news for the conference
Satterfield has been trying to leave Louisville for years. Actively campaigned for the South Carolina job and then was in damage control ever since. Its not a bad hire, don't get me wrong but the man has been running out of Louisville for a while. It wouldn't surprise me if he had been like Chizik as the story goes and had most of his stuff boxed up long before taking the job.

Maybe because the news broke at 7:00 AM CT and you posted this comment before 7:50 AM.

I'm surprised by the hire but Satterfield can definitely recruit.

I'm NOT at all surprised that a coach thinks Cincinnati is more attractive than Louisville. UC is in a better recruiting state, has (much) better recent history, and is in a league that it has a much better shot of winning. UC is a program that has a much better path to the 12-team CFP than Louisville does.

And now Deion to Colorado seems weird when he would have been a great flashy hire at Louisville.

Cincy, yikes! Wonder how far down the list he was? Their fans were aiming really high, gotta be a little underwhelmed.
