***2022-23 MBB General Thread***

Watched both ACC games, games are alot smoother than trying to watch a Big 12, minimal fouling and stoppages.

Confused on why Blake Hinson wasn't able to make it here, he looked like the 2nd best player on the floor for an Ncaa team.

Hinson signed with Prohm, stayed for a year then maybe saw what Otzelball was and decided he didn't like that style.

I thought I remember hearing on here Otz basically showed him the door. My guess is he didn’t want to focus on defense.

Boeheim has 'retired'.

Former 'Cuse player and long time assistant Red Autry is the new head coach.

I think this will be the classic 'the guy after the guy' fails and 4 years from now 'Cuse makes a 'real' hire.

He knows he can't keep up with the deep pockets of Wake Forrest

No matter what anyone may think of Boeheim, 47 years as head coach at one school (or even multiple stops) is remarkable.

I assume that's longest tenure in D-1 history? I think Rupp was HC 41 or 42 years at Kentucky. Trying to think of some others that are even within vicinity.

Ray Meyer went 46 at DePaul, Rupp 42 and K went 41 (47 if you count the 6 years at Army).

Those are the only 'major' college coaches anywhere near the discussion. Feels like Izzo has been around forever and he won't hit 30 until the season after next.

Thx - I should've thought of Meyer (I knew it was a long time but couldn't have specified exact #). And K, too, for some reason I didn't do the addition.

It looks like Jim Phelan at Mount St Marys is the record holder (49 years)

After seeing the Lampkin news, I took a look at his Basketball Reference page. I was pretty surprised seeing his stats. He only averaged 6.3 points a game this season, and 6.8 last season. He's a fantastic offensive rebounder, but other than that, I feel like his impact might be overstated.
