It's a long shot, but I think there is a shot at a Des Moines 6 seed. If Marquette is the top 3 seed and Kansas State and Baylor are lower 3 seeds, Iowa State as a 6 seed would possibly get Des Moines. They would either have to put Iowa State in Des Moines or the 6 seed in Texas's region.

The thing is, Baylor probably has to lose to drop and if Iowa State wins 1 game, they are almost assuredly a 5 seed or better.

We may have the 5 locked already and with a win may be pushing a 4. A 4 seed would probably land us there. I would think 2 wins and we should have a 4.

considering we arent ranked, and I'm okay with that, I can't see us reaching a 4-seed. Lot of those top ones are decided by conf. tourn. semi's/finals time. I think the committee tries to stay away from an upset in a tournament dropping any higher seeds.

Yeah, you are probably right.

I think there is only one non-Big 12 team with as many quad 1 wins as we do

AP ranking has no bearing. The metrics which we are good in do have bearing.

19 in Net, which is already aligned with a 5, not that it is strictly followed.

I would say 0-1 in KC = 6
1-1 = 5
2-1 or 3-0= 4

A three is in play, but would probably depend heavily on some other good teams getting upset in their tournies early

I would recommend everybody go back and read my post #1 of this thread for perspective on where we started this season (roughly a 50-50 shot of making the dance) to where we are now.

So you're telling me there's a chance?

I will always wonder how this season goes with a healthy Williams, Kunc, and Grill and if AJG shows up. Nonetheless, I am incredibly hopeful for a bright future with the recruiting classes that TJ and the staff have put together and TJ's proven ability now to have built two NCAA tournament teams on the fly in two transfer seasons. The second one of those teams had the potential to be special if a few bad breaks go its way.

One of these seasons the breaks are going to go our way, or so I hope.

I'd MUCH rather have the 6 seed than a 5 seed..

The 5/12 games are against the BEST mid-majors in CBB versus the 6/11 game is against teams that only get into the tournament based on the name on their jersey or the conference they play in.
So like ISU last year? We got in as an 11 and made it to the sweet 16. High major teams get the 11, which means they are full of talent. I would rather play the best mid major than a middle power conference team.

It used to be that local teams not seeded 1-4 would not be placed close so that the 1-4s would not play a team that is closer than them and have a crowd advantage. Have heard that it is still a thing and have heard that it is followed as much, so basically I don't know.
Minnesota was the 10 seed in 2019 and had by far the most fans in Des Moines.

I agree with the last few posters.

Would rather have the 6 vs 11 then 3, then a 5 vs 12 then 4. The 5 vs 12 are always upsets and I can see them matching up ISU vs. Drake in the first round, just because the committee likes to do crap like that.

I think the problem of getting slated into Des Moines as a 6 is the most likely 3 seed to get placed in Des Moines will be K-State and they won't put 2 Big 12 teams vs each other in the round of 32. Unless K-State somehow slide to a 4 seed and Marquette gets Des Moines. Milwaukee is closer to Des Moines then Columbus.

How can K-State drop to the 4? Lose badly to TCU in the first round, and ISU lose to Baylor maybe that is the 6-3 matchup?

If ISU wins the Big 12 tourney maybe they get a 3 or 4 seed in Des Moines. But I think the most likely scenario is the Purple Kitties get Des Moines

Anyone have an opinion on a run in the B12 vs some rest for the big dance?
I definitely want another Baylor win. After that I'm less concerned.

Auburn has a lot of length and big bodies less offense than drake but drake would be a better fit for us imo

Yeah, he was raining 3s that day. I was at the games and was cheering for Minnesota that weekend. I hate Michigan State and the rest of the teams I really had no interest in.

Yep, Gabe was on fire, I attended those games. Of course didn't know at the time he'd eventually become "one of us." When he transferred to ISU, that's the first thing that came to mind.
