2021 Stock Market

So basically this thing got in a range between 220 and 250 all afternoon. So much for the shorts covering all week theory.

I hope every short loses money at this point. I short quite a bit actually but usually on anticipated earnings and fUnDemEntALs but in this scenario the shorts are on the wrong side of history.

Seems kinda hypocritical for you to have this issue with the shorters when you state you do it quite a bit.

I'm not a **** that does it 140% of the entire value of a stock. I cannot make naked shorts as an independent investor

(also if you want to be technical, it's put options)

That's the thing though, it's not just one person or company that is making up the 140% of the short. It's like saying I only stole a 20 out of the till, not that whole $5,000 that was in there; just on a different level. I don't think shorting should be allowed on a speculative basis period, that is one of the big issues right there. If someone wants to hedge production and such,I don't mind that because they are basically locking in prices. Selling something that you can't produce should not be allowed in my opinion and is what is a major issue with the markets.

I'll agree to that. There should absolutely be a law that limits the amount it can short. I agree generally that shorts to trigger action and prevent markets from being stagnant but when it's preposterously egregious like it was with GME than something needs to be done.

Why do people use robinhood anyway?

Years ago it was the only platform that offered:
1) free trades
2) low bar of entry (no fees to start an account, no minimum balance)

Everybody has caught up since, and I think Robinhood's good will is now over.
