Meh, I see a pretty tight group in the middle with the SEC outperforming the others and the ACC underperforming considering how much thier recruiting base overlaps the SEC (and B1G).
Especially considering how boring it is to watch.
Especially for something purely based on potential several years down the road.
Yea, I like to turn it on and see when the Vikings next draft pick is and try to estimate the time to come back. Of course Rick will then trade the pick and screw up my timing.
Ehh not so much in football. Most guys drafted are contributing within the first season or two.
I enjoy the first round just cause most of those guys are going to be playing from day one. I didn't watch rounds 2-3 cause I was at a movie and Saturday I only had it on to see where Hakeem was going and that was done on the very first pick. I kept it on while doing other stuff but man rounds 4-7 are tough to watch.
It gets dull pretty quickly for me. I like to watch first round to see if there are any shockers way out of line with expectations. I paid some attention to 3rd/4th since there was probably ISU connection.
Most annoying thing ever is waiting for your team and they finally get there turn and they trade down 10 or 12 picks.
It sucks as a fan but unless there's a player there the team absolutely loves then the smart move is to trade back if possible.
It kind of depends on who's running the show for your team, though. If your team is an annual disaster with morons making the decisions, every draft is hell because you just know they're going to screw it up. But if you have confidence in your team's GM, it's easy to convince yourself that every trade and move they make is a goddamned stroke of genius.
I think the truth of it is that for all the time and effort that goes into scouting for the draft, it's a crapshoot for everyone. If anyone had cracked the code and figured out how to hit on every pick they'd win the Super Bowl every year. The best way to "win" a draft is to get as many bites at the apple as possible, and the best way to do that is by trading down.
The best way to do that is by trading down, but not to the point where you have 15 picks in the 7th round. *cough* Vikings *cough* The best way to trade down is to give up picks now for picks later because teams value future picks less than now picks. Most teams will trade next years 2nd for this years 3rd, or something of that nature. Id rather my team have 5 picks in rounds 2-3 than 10 in the 7th. 2nd and 3rd round picks are more likely to turn into meaningful contributors than 7th round picks.
Oh no doubt. I am just saying as a spectator trying to watch the draft. I hate seeing "Packers are on the clock", Then it switches over the Dolphins and you know we just traded. Great I just watched for 2 hours for my pick and now we traded down another hour. I get the trade stuff and I am down with it. Just frustrating event to watch. I used to love watching to see the Browns make the wrong pick. Kind of sucks I now watch my Packers made stupid picks and the Browns guy has it together. That's no fun.

Or when you want to see the ISU guys get drafted, but the niece and nepthew want to go eat at a place with no TV's. Recorded it. I turn it on other day just to see David part, nope that's when ESPN went to basketball and switched over to the other channel, immediately after pick 72. Wow, cool ESPN.
