Leonard has quietly had a really solid career. Loved watching him play at ISU and glad to see he has had some success, in somewhat of a journeyman career.

That young man came a long ways.

Campos played the entire second half at left guard. I am far from an expert on interior offensive line play, but he looked much more comfortable there. At tackle he would occasionally completely whiff on an outside rusher. Inside, without that worry, he held up pretty well. He wasn't dominating, but he could be a serviceable backup guard and emergency tackle.
One interesting thing: if there was a stat for most 'help ups', Jake would win it. I swear he is there to help up the running back or the QB after 75% of plays. Iowa nice!

Noticed that too. Whatever it takes to show them he wants to be there!

For the second straight game, Lanning did not see any action. I can only think of two reasons:
  1. He is absolutely outclassed, and is simply a camp body at this point.
  2. (More hopefully) in a crowed, talented and mostly veteran Cowboys LB crew; Lanning has no shot of making the 53, so the team is hiding him from any film in order to place him on the practice squad and give him a year to perfect his craft a bit more.

Lulz, I totally noticed this. Jake was constantly on screen. He's really going for it!

Jaguars WR, Marquis Lee, injured his knee in their 3rd preseason game Saturday and will be out for the season. Lee was one of the front-runners for a roster spot having caught 120 or so passes the last two years for the Jags. From the USA Today article:

As for the back of the depth chart, Rashad Greene looked to be the front-runner for the No. 6 receivers spot. Lee’s injury moves him up to the No. 5 spot, which means Shane Wynn, Allen Lazard or Jaydon Mickens could be in play to make the roster as a No. 6.
Mickens played in 10 games for the Jags last year, catching 6 passes. He was also a part-time punt returner who did have one return TD on 28 attempts.

Wynn has bounced around various practice squads since he was an undrafted free agent after the 2015 draft. He did catch 1 pass for the Jags last year late in the season.

It's not looking great for Jeremiah George with the Colts. He's missed the last week or so with a back injury and didn't play at all in the team's third preseason game. I guess there's still a chance he sticks but not if he doesn't get back on the field soon.

Oops - forgot to include the Colts. I was hoping he would stick there; thanks for the info.

EDIT: I checked and ESPN does project Jeremiah G. as one of 7 LBs on the Colts' roster - fingers crossed. Link: http://www.espn.com/blog/indianapol...olts-53-man-roster-projection-final-cuts-2018

I watched most of the Dallas/Houston game last night. Campos came in for an injured lineman midway through the second quarter, played right tackle for 2 or 3 series, and did not look good. He got beat a couple of times, including once where the TE chipped the DE and Jake still missed the follow-up block and almost gave up a sack. He started at left tackle in the third quarter and did not look much better. By the fourth quarter, he was able to hold his own, albeit against the Texans 3rd or 4th string DE. If he is to make the team (or more likely the practice squad), if will have to be because of his potential and versatility (he played every line spot but center during the preseason). The incredible instability on the Cowboys OL right now isn't hurting him either.

I'd assume we'll be hearing about cuts here in the next coming days.

Lanning played 3 series last night for Dallas, each time at the end of quarters (the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th). He had one nice play where he lined up over the center in an obvious blitz call. He made it into the backfield clean, flushed the QB, and would have had a chance for a sack had he not been held by the RB (which drew a flag). Otherwise, he didn't look bad, and seemed to be in good position most of the time. To my untrained scouting eye, it looks like he has some trouble getting off blocks, but that is to be expected from a guy playing against NFL blockers after 1 year at LB in college. The box score credited him with 2 solo tackles, which isn't bad considering he saw maybe 15 snaps and was also held twice (both times drawing flags).

On the other thread, it was noted that Lazard was waived by the Jags.

Leonard Johnson was released by the Giants as well.
