Sure. So the women's 4x100 team gets to re-run the semifinal heat later today without any competitors on the track. That's going to look kind of odd. No doubt, last night the United States 100 meter hurdlers take 1st, 2nd and 3rd and get no coverage on it. Or Justin Gatlin decides to copy Merritt and Bolt and start looking around to ultimately get passed and knocked out of the finals. That and Usain Bolt is attempting to do something tonight that is really really hard to do.
I will watch it online. Was trying to just go with the TV stations while getting laundry and back to school situation straightened out today and had to dodge another fluff piece on gymnastics and another Mary Carillo blabfest on a different channel.
And hooray for our woman wrestler!

We watched Merritt & Bolt last night - I didn't realize at first that it was a heat, and not the medal race. When they started looking at each other before the end of the race it surprised me. After the fact, it was fun watching how much they were enjoying themselves.
agreed. I loved that whole situation. I saw some people saying how they need to be more serious, but I thought it was awesome to see them so candid. I really like that Canadian dude, he has a second gear that is very impressive. I don't see him beating Bolt obviously, but I see him competing for a medal, and then being a force to reckon with for then next 4 years in both the 100 m and 200m.
Honest question - because I'm sorry, until I saw posts in this thread I didn't realize there was a women's wrestling competition. It doesn't get much press - even less than the men's.
Where do the American women train/compete outside of the Olympics & World games? Is there a circuit? Are these women from collegiate teams? I'm genuinely curious.
What does everybody think of the Brazilian Steakhouses? I'm a big fan. Sure, I don't want to eat for a couple of days afterward but I love the variety.

As much as I don't want to think this way, every time I hear about women's wrestling, Stripes and Old School just pop into my head. I really don't want to be this way but I just can't help it.

The Senior level (Olympic and World Championship level) wrestlers train out of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, for the most part.
For every Greco-Roman or Freestyle competition for men, there is usually a Women's freestyle competition.
There are about 30 collegiate teams around the country that have programs. Some women might skip college and go straight to the OTC
absolutely, 100% agree. The safety of the athletes at these games has been a huge story.
I wonder if another college coach will get to head up the 2020 women's team. I could see Cook or Rose. Had never really seen excitement for Kiraly getting the nod. I didn't end up getting to watch any of our games so I don't know how that part of it looked. But there was a lot of ..........consternation when the lineup was announced.
