2015-2016 Schedule

I thought the "I am a better fan than you/others" card would have been played earlier in this thread. It's always going to get played at some point and it is the ultimate answer to any differences of opinion like some sort of purity or loyalty test. To me, when you guys go to patting yourselves on the back, you kinda come off as pompous *****.

While I know there are/will be games that we blow the other team out I still go to SUPPORT our players. I have seen many of our fair weather fans as they only show up a few times a year. I see the empty seats in prime areas for many games. It is sad we have season ticket holders who feel they will only attend games they feel are worthy of watching. I will be at every home game no matter who we are playing as our players deserve our support.

I feel the same way. If I was not going to go to every game on the season ticket list, I wouldn't bother with season tickets. I've missed exactly two home games since 1998: one because i went to watch the volleyball team play in Berkeley for the Sweet 16 and one because I had gone to the CMA Awards in Nashville.

While I do not expect all season ticket holders to have the exact same dedication to this (or any other Cyclone) program, I don't understand why you wouldn't go, especially if you live in town. Even if the opponent has an RPI of 332, I will be there because I want to see the bench riders who rarely see minutes be given their chance to shine. They absolutely deserve our support every time they step onto that floor.

That's not a particularly nice thing to say. That type of comment comes off a certain way as well.

I feel like I'm between both camps in this thread. I wish we would schedule a bit tougher because many of these blowout game IMO don't prepare us for the big 12. I'd like to see maybe a top team from the MAC. or Conf. USA for example. Due to my job I can't go to all the home games so I obviously choose to make it to all the conf. home games so I miss alot of the non-conf. home games.

This. Overall, Cyclone fans are amazing. Football attendance is a testament to that. There are obviously many motivations for Cyclone spirit and fan support.

I would say that, regardless of opponent, WBB is a fantastic Cyclone sporting event. Why some fans use opponent as a reason to not attend is hard to figure. The program recruits and graduates impressive student-athletes who represent the university and fan base with great class. The team (usually) plays a fun/smart style of basketball that is (almost) always competitive. The team consistently wins. The team gets national attention. The team has exciting wins. The bottom line is that you can like the team and thus like to watch games, independent of the opponent.

As a long time season ticket holder there are games I would not cross the street to watch. So in my mind we already have fewer home games.

I would agree. We schedule some teams so limited in talent, the games do nothing to improve our squad. Judging from so many empty seats scattered throughout Hilton at most non-conference games, many others also agree!

A bit tougher is good. Having 2-3 sweet sixteen or elite eight teams would be nuts considering we get those in the conference. Unfortunately there is a huge drop off after the top 30. I'd still love to see a bit tougher with teams in the 30-60 range.

Don't get me wrong - this is going to be fun next few years with the talent we already have, talent improving and new talent coming in!
