Heard through the grapevine the Cubs are still hoping Junior Lake can be the 4th outfielder. Take that and run with it.

Yeah, he didn't get much help from Valbuena in the box. The throw was cutoff, so the slide wasn't necessary, but Valbuena still gave a half-hearted slide signal. Too bad, but good to see him walk off. Definitely a nasty looking play.Looks like Castro might be done for the season as well now...

It was Castillo, but yeah point still remains. Looks like my quest for 4th place is going to fall short :twitcy:
So, I assume they moved Baez to short. Who's playing 2nd?
1. Vizcaino, IMO, will now be our 7th inning man (with Neil Ramirez and Rondon keeping their spots since they've been great performing their roles)
2. Still think Alcantara becomes our 4th outfielder next year/backup middle infielder. Valbuena becomes our third base backup, Coghlan becomes our 5th outfielder. By July, I think we have 13 position players and 12 pitchers.
C - 1. Castillo 2. Whoever
1B - 1. Rizzo 2. Olt
2B - 1. Baez 2. Alcantara
3B - 1. Bryant 2. Valbuena
SS - 1. Russel 2. Alcantara
RF - 1. Soler 2. Alcantara 3. Coghlan
CF - 1. Markakis 2. Alcantara
LF - 1. Castro 2. Alcantara 3. Coghlan
I'm telling you, Lake is in the OF plans.
I highly doubt it, considering he did nothing down in Iowa, but ok. Unless you're talking about the 40 man roster plans. But we have at least 6 better outfielders/future outfielders than Lake.
I'm not arguing anything you just posted, because I agree 1000%.

If Lake was really in their long term plans he would have got more consistent at bats earlier this year
