We come in at #7. Odd that it has us with one Quad 1, one Quad 2, two Quad 3 and three Quad 4 wins, but I think that most of those in 2 & 3 should move up

That’s the negative of the PE tourney. You have many good teams that beat up on each other so their quad ranking drops early. Then they will play normal schedules and their net will rise.

Iowa acupuncture tournament have them against #98 and 163. Yep Dolph, toughest competition that week for a tournament
Their marquee non-conference game against Ole Miss looks like a dud now after they lost to Utah. They still have us, but that's it for them. Beat a really bad Xavier team and a probably bad Ole Miss. What a schedule.

MS St definitely has been a disappointment. Kind of shocked at their poor play.

Most of the games that looked good on paper for Iowa and ISU 3 weeks ago are now looking bad.

Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Syracuse are terrible teams. I think Creighton and obviously St. John's will be good, but other than that, not much meat on our resume yet.

Looking like a rough basketball season for the state of Mississippi.

I think Syracuse will be good later in the year. They gave Houston all that they could handle and KU didn't exactly blow them out.

I optimistically expect all of our wins so far over major-conference opponents to age well, except for Mississippi State who looks pretty middling at best. Creighton is not the 119th best team in the country. Put in a close one one way or the other against Purdon't, and blow Iowa's doors off, and I'll call it an outstanding non-con season.

I don't think either Syracuse or Creighton will end up a quad 1. They don't look like very good teams IMO. Part of the reason I was and still am pissed that we got paired with Syracuse for our 3rd game. We got screwed out of a potential good win.

Syracuse is terrible. I know they played Kansas close but they are not a tournament team and will be towards the bottom of the ACC again.

I wonder if our metrics would look even better had we lost a close game against Michigan or Tennessee instead?

NET cares about winning or losing I think, which is why I don't think it's very useful until later in the year. Kenpom and other metrics like it are more spread-based, what was the score vs. what the metrics predicted it would be, regardless of who won or lost the game.

I think they're both useful.

It's not just based on wins and losses. It has an efficiency component. Usually by the end of the year it mirrors kenpom pretty closely.

NET definitely puts a value on margin of victory. That's the only way Iowa or Indiana could be ranked where they currently are. LOL both teams have played 1 Q2 game and the rest are all Q3 and Q4.
