Am I crazy, but this 12 days between games seems like a concern to me. Most teams had a game after Christmas. Aren't we going to likely be rusty by Wednesday? Just seems like really odd scheduling this year. Let's not make this a regular thing, IMO. Tell me I am overreacting!

9 days in between games last year, 10 the year before that. Only us and Oklahoma didn't play the weekend before conference this season. I think it's poor scheduling as well. Luckily we play the worst team in the conference to start off.

Predictions:

ISU wins Wednesday: great to have the rest, Lard's energy was great and this team will meet the common expectation of winning the conference title and making the Final Four like Prohm should have with rosters that never did without him.

ISU loses: Prohm hould have scrimmaged Duke '15 on 12/28, Fred and Tim Floyd never lost conference road games and Lard not making full hand to hand contact with Steyer's low five during a time out is very telling of how this team will look in February and in 2022.

Babb probably needed 12 days, he always seems gimpy.

I guess I shouldn't talk, the only games I've seen were the Hawaii ones.

Guess the season starts now for me.

You didn’t hear? Lard was kicked off the team via fan vote.

I am a little torn on the Layoff, arguments can be made both ways.
I don't think it puts ISU at any type of disadvantage especially considering the early suspensions and injuries that occurred the extra practice time should benefit the team. I am not sure playing a Bryant like team that Iowa did during this weekend (w/o students) would have moved helped other than just giving Solomon and Lindell live action reps. Selfishly I want to see them play and bank a W.

Good or bad, rusty or not, 12 days is too long without basketball for me.

By my count there's not a layoff of more than 5 days until March, so fun to get into a bit of a groove and see what this team does with the frequency of games.

Seems to me the Christmas - NY break is an optimum time to annually schedule Drake / UNIs; in-state games good for attendance and travel is reasonable.

Prohm lets the guys go home for a few days and spend time with their families. Sure, it would have been nice to have a change to get Wigginton and Young on the floor one more time before conference play but honestly, the reps/conditioning they are getting in practice might be equally valuable.
