‘27 OL Will Slagle Commits........

Slagle decommitted today, per Alex Busse. Didn't see it posted elsewhere here. Don't read Busse's article if you don't want to get highly annoyed. Attrition obviously going to happen, but Slagle's quotes are basically "ISU is a lousy farm school that couldn't even keep Hoiberg and Campbell is a god who can't do anything wrong"
Read his actual tweet. He is officially decommiting and going to take time to meet the new staff.

Well that's more encouraging than the article. Here's Slagle's quote in the article:
"As a lifelong cyclone fan, it's sad that this is the story again that started with [Fred] Hoiberg. I hope we aren't a program that farms out legendary coaches but can't keep them. As a commit to Coach Campbell, I trust that he will make the right decision. He's easily the best coach not just in the Big 12 but in the nation and so whatever he chooses will be right."

Totally expected and completely reasonable.
I'm sure coach Rogers is doing everything he can to retain him, but it may not be meant to be.
This situation is a unique...but kids commit to coaches! Not schools...I get it! Look at how some of us feel on this board about "saying goodbye" to Coach Campbell! He is all this kid knew at Iowa State! Give the kid some room and let him take it all in and clear his head. The kid should make the decision he feels is best for him and his family! Can't ask him to do anything else!
I mean, Penn State hung up a big flashing neon sign about NIL bonuses for people who come to play there, so it is a financial decision as well as a personal one.
MC probably not that far down the list yet, still trying to keep players in the program.
I think that was his original down to whatever list also. I’m sure several of those schools have already filled up so he’s probably gonna have to see what’s available.
I doubt many schools are filled up for the '27 class. He should still have plenty of options
A full '26 class (for now), ISU now has a total of zero commits for the '27 class which is the class Slagle is in.
Ok. Thanks for the clarity, I thought he signed with this class. I haven’t gotten to 27 myself yet.
