A season after... Does Melvin Ejim's jersey still deserve to be in the rafters?

As the regular season draws to a close, was wanting to know how the fanatics felt about Melvin Ejim's jersey possibly being retired hung up in the rafters? Some thought they would need a season or two after he graduates to get a sense if it was retire worthy..

Great student, great athlete, great ambassador for the university. He was also the anchor and symbol of the beginning of the Hoiberg era. Ejim was exactly what a student athlete should be. Regardless if it gets hung (and it should) he will forever be one of my favorite Cyclones.

No argument at all. Each of the 3 can (and probably will) earn their way to the rafters.
No doubt that Niang will find his way there. No real doubt for Monte, either.

It's OK to recognize players for outstanding careers. It's a shame that we haven't had the careers to recognize for a long time.

I hadn't thought about it but yeah, he was the anchor of the FH era. The stable rock on which all the best teams were built. Great athlete, great student, great ambassador.

Question, would an NBA contract expedite Ejim's jersey being hung? Or does his overseas contract hamper him being ever recognized with the Cyclone greats in Hilton?

Agreed. A 12 pt 7 rebound career average isn't remotely jersey hanging material.

I loved the guy and honestly have not seen a player from day one to his final game improve as much as he did in 35 years of watching college ball...guy was amazing....but no. No way is the total body of work jersey hanging worthy.
