In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

I'm a coffee fiend and I don't get it. Give me Dunkin 10 days out of 10 for about a third of the price. I just don't see how all of these places make it in the long run. Hell, Starbucks built a brand new store in Johnston on Merle Hay and it wasn't even open a year.
Wife and daughter both love them some 7 brew, it's not so much coffee people are buying, its energy drinks loaded up with caffeine. The wife will get a large lemonade and pour it into her insulated tumbler and sip on it all day long.

I give them 3 to 5 years and when the craze is over, they will be closing up, but while open, they are making bank.

Ames, were Grand meets 16th street all the way to the south. NE corner of the intersection, south of the golf course. What was them moving dirt two or three weeks ago now has a Quik Star building set on it and they are pouring concrete for the parking lot.
Thank you. I was not considering south grand. was confused due to grand and 16th being residential

Didn't someone leaving a car running at a dorm while delivering and someone hopped in and took off?
This almost happened to me when I was a delivery driver for Insomnia Cookies for about a week, probably around 2015. I was driving my parents Expedition (great delivery vehicle I know lol) and parked in Friley for a delivery and left it unlocked. Went back after the delivery and some drunk guy had the door open and was trying to start it, luckily I kept the keys on me.

Raise your hand if you remember Hombre's that used to be in the Ramada Inn on South Duff 30 years ago.
We stayed at that Ramada Inn when we first moved here in 1982. At one point the restaurant was named for Johnny Orr.
