Yellowstone - new TV "western"

The Beth/Rip spinoff is called 'Dutton Ranch' and is supposed to start this fall/winter. It's already in production.

Taylor Sheridan is the only thing keeping Paramount viable.

Well as long as he keeps churning out the quality of shows he has been I will keep my subscription. We've enjoyed pretty much every show he's had on there except for I have never been able to get into the Mayor of Kingstown so stopped watching that in Season 1. Landman, Tulsa King, and Lioness have been huge hits to go along with the Yellowstone shows.

Loved Landman. I get that it's over the top and kind of silly but it's a really enjoyable watch.

1883 and 1923 (other than the weird sexual stuff) were both fantastic.

Sheridan's movies are all good/great watches too.

Agree on all parts. I see that Sam Elliot is going to be part of the season 2 cast of Landman which should be great having him and Billy Bob in some scenes together. Just about done with season 2 of 1923 and I agree the creepy rich man and his weird sexual stuff I could do without.

Completely agree with "too much weird sexual stuff."

Which makes me think... has there always been so much weird sexual stuff in society? Like is the show just portraying reality of the time? In today's world I almost assume if you are a wealthy politician and/or caltholic preist, there is a 50/50 chance you have messed with young boys and are a bad character. Ok this is probably a political board question, but that is the thought I was left with from those shows.

Nah, they are just the publicly notified ones. We gotta stop lumping people. There are sick ***** of every kind of person. We get riled up because of the popular ones, because we never suspect it. We had an offender who would come over and play baseball with us in a lot in the summer. We had no idea he was an offender until he moved away and got caught. He never did anything untoward to us (guess we were ugly kids). But slight joke aside, it has nothing to do with politicians and priesthood. There is something mentally broken in some folks. Maybe the powerful ones just have the ability to hide it better.

Anyone watching the new Y: Marshalls show? Definitely a change not hearing the F-bomb every 30 seconds when it seemed like in Yellowstone they couldn't finish a sentence without using a curse word in it.

Have watched the 1st 2 episodes. Thought 1st episode was pretty good. 2nd one was okay. Have a feeling I'm going to lose interest as the show goes on though.

Go back and watch 70s movies. Or read about temple prostitutes in the Roman Empire. There have been a certain portion of the population that are weird and have been for millennia.

We'll see how it progresses, I have a hard time judging a show until about 5 episodes in. It feels like they are trying to separate the plot a bit from the original series but still have a little bit of tie ins with it too in some aspects. Episode 2 I was wondering if they were going to stumble into the "train station."

Dutton Ranch has been really good so far and if you saw the teaser trailer for the next episode things are about to get even more interesting it looks like. By far a much better cast and storyline for this new series than Marshalls has been. I will say season finale of Marshalls was the best of the whole season and finally made things interesting so hopefully season 2 is better but up until then that show has been really disappointing. Ed Harris and Annette Bening have been really good actors in Dutton Ranch and the series up until this point has felt a lot more true to the Yellowstone brand shows they have done than Marshalls ever has. I have a feeling there could possibly be some kind of crossover episode between the 2 shows given how the last episode of Marshalls ended.

Marshall's? Do you mean CSI Montana? That show has been a real disappointment.

Agree with this. I enjoyed Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. I'm looking forward to starting Dutton Ranch. But I quit Marshalls after 2 episodes. It just wasn't good. It didn't even feel like a Yellowstone series.

Sheridan just doesn't work on network TV where he has to stay within FCC rules of language and violence.

Yep. Marshalls just hits like a generic CBS drama that happens to have a couple actors that were on Yellowstone.
