Softball team home run fest on Easter

ISU should drop softball and find a cheaper alternative women’s sport. We’re a northern school and we’ll never be able to compete anyway, so why waste money on it?

I think I did that right.;)

I didn’t turn the channel fast enough. Now watching Iowa bowl game…. Nope

Again, we FINALLY have an offense but our pitching will be the end of us. This has got to be one of our most efficient offenses in school history...multiple people hitting over .300 and we hit a lot of homers, even against good teams.

Watching the CyHawk game right now on Big10 Network. Perfect example of this thread. 4th inning, and there have been 4 homers, little pitching
I believe today's softball game (won by Iowa State 9-7) concludes the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. Final tally Iowa State 17 - Iowa 8

We have a softball game in Ames in a few weeks that will conclude this year's Series. Each is worth 1-point.

They started playing 2 softball games last year so they made each game worth 1. Still one more point available

Good thing we have two pitchers in the '26 class from Iowa.

In all seriousness, the future though Palumbo could be really good and '26 pitcher Boggs from Nevada is a top 100 overall recruit.
Pretty sure an outfielder from Kirkwood who is from Iowa will also be at ISU next year. Maybe JP told him to start bringing in Iowa kids to lower the tuition cost.

He isn’t actively not recruiting Iowa. The top talent in the state is going SEC. The next level is going Mizzou due to big club relations. Iowa was dominating the state for a few years because their last coach, Gillespie, made Iowa her top pipeline and was very good at building relationships with Iowa schools. The lack of talent she brought in also led to her losing her job.

I would anticipate with Gillespie being gone, Pink will have a greater advantage in the state. But I’d also propose looking around and seeing what talent in Iowa is Iowa State missing out on that they could’ve got.

Yep unfortunately for us the top talent Iowa is top talent nationally and head south or west which we'll never get unless we get a super booster who loves softball to upgrade facilities and can match NIL from blue bloods. There is enough talent in state to be a super regional team, but nobody wants to stay instate. The next tier is a bunch of super athletes who play multiple sports and sometimes choose softball, like Clemons. This is what we need to clean up on and Pink is doing a better job.

I believe there is one of the better recruiting classes in '28 so finding a way into postseason is greatly needed to help.

Great win with 2 runs in the 7th.

ISU wins 9-7

Cy-halk part 2 in Ames in a couple weeks

Split against #19 Oklahoma State today.

Lost game 1, 8-3.
Came back with a 12-0 run-rule win in 5 innings.

Game 3 Sunday.
