At the time of this post (over 3 1/2 years ago), I had been chatting with Alex (the lead investigator) for a few weeks. One of his team members, who is a great investigator, is a good friend of mine that I trust, and he put me in touch with Alex, and I was getting info from both of them about their investigation. Alex told me that he had DNA evidence to solve the Zodiac case and the Black Dahlia case. He also told me that he was in Los Angeles making a documentary for Netflix. After a while I just completely forgot about all this, as I do not really do Zodiac research anymore. Last week I just happened to go to a Zodiac site and saw that Alex has finally named his suspect publicly. I'm pretty confused because there is no mention of this DNA evidence I was told existed. That is what got me excited in the first place. And still no documentary. I have been trying to get in touch with my friend who is on Alex's "team," because the info I was given is a lot different than what I have been reading, but no luck reaching the dude.I just learned that my friend has linked TWO men to the Zodiac murders. One name I know very well. The other I have never heard before, so I have been researching him, and what I found is crazy! I'm almost positive my friend knows this as well, and it may lead to another famous murder being solved.
Both of his suspects are deceased. No surprise there.

So Marvin Margolis is the suspect's name. He was a Black Dahlia suspect when that murder happened in the 40's but was dismissed for some reason. After reading about him in 2022, he definitely became one of my top two Black Dahlia suspects. As far as being a Zodiac suspect... I mean, he looks A LOT like the police sketch, but there is no solid evidence, just some circumstantial pieces of evidence. "His name appears in one of the ciphers!" Everyone who has a suspect has made that claim. What I was told is that Margolis was responsible for the murder of Elizabeth Short/Black Dahlia, and that he and Lawrence Kane were behind the Zodiac killings. This also had me excited because Kane had been (and still is) one of my top two or three Zodiac suspects. There is absolutely no mention of Kane anywhere in Alex's work. I wish I would have kept those conversations so I could go back and read everything.
Anyways, I do like this Margolis guy as a suspect in both cases, but I'm disappointed that I actually fell for the "I solved the case!" line. Both cases are still unsolved and probably always will be.

Dark secrets of the war veteran linked to the Zodiac and Black Dahlia
Marvin Margolis - also known as Marvin Merrill - was a veteran, a family man, a convicted fraudster, an artist, a car repairman... was he also the Zodiac killer and the murderer of the Black Dahlia?www.dailymail.co.uk
Arthur Leigh Allen is the best suspect on paper. Tons of circumstantial things with him. There are a lot of suspects that when you read about them you start to think "this has to be the guy."I was reading somewhere (can't recall the source), but the circumstantial evidence is pretty wild.
For example, there was a motel he stopped into around the time of Miss Short's death where he was looking for a room with a bath - the name of the motel "The Zodiac".
The suspects decendant shared a photo of a bayonet his dad brought back from the war and it has the same symbol as was used in the Zodiac cipher letters.
The decendant also shared a sketch made by his father of a sad/forlorn looking woman with what appear to be stab wounds ("scratches") in near perfect positioning as the wounds on Miss Short... the piece is called "For Elizabeth" (or something along those lines) and layered beneath the shading on the woman's L arm you can make out characters that REALLY look like it says "Zodiac".
Also remember, the Zodiac killer would send "art"/ sketches along with the ciphers. To me the style of "For Elizabeth" is eerily similar to those other sketches.
To me, that's too many coincidences/ too much circumstance to dismiss away. But I agree, they'll probably never be able to close the cases as truly "solved". Fascinating you got a bit of insider baseball years ago, thanks for sharing!
I have been doing some reading on a lot of the "evidence" against Margolis and a good amount of it is the investigators making stuff up to help their case. Even the photo of Margolis that they used was edited to look like the Zodiac composite.I was reading somewhere (can't recall the source), but the circumstantial evidence is pretty wild.

you have $1M...and have to put it all on a bet on who the Zodiac killer is. Who are you putting it on.I have been doing some reading on a lot of the "evidence" against Margolis and a good amount of it is the investigators making stuff up to help their case. If anyone is interested in the Zodiac case, I highly recommend zodiacciphers.com which is ran by Richard Grinell. Lots of good information and theories there. I also recommend watching Dave Oranchak's videos on youtube. Dave and some of his colleagues are the ones that solved one of the Zodiac ciphers a few years ago. He has been on some Zodiac documentaries and TV shows. Richard and Dave are both great researchers and unlike other researchers, have no agenda.
Damn..... Toughest question I have ever been asked..... Hmmm..... Honestly I'm placing that money on the CIA's MK ULTRA program being behind it. So many things don't add up if you're thinking it was a lone killer who was just some random crazy guy. I have never believed that. The dude would have been caught by now. So MK ULTRA is where I'd bet the $1mil.you have $1M...and have to put it all on a bet on who the Zodiac killer is. Who are you putting it on.
Was he even born in 1968? I have heard some interesting things about Cruz's father possibly being involved in some sinister things with Bernie Sanders.
