Ashley Okland Murder

You could make an assumption that maybe she was worried since she was the one that discovered her that they would think she was the main suspect in the case. You can only imagine now with how much more prevalent social media is than it was 15 years ago even how people might perceive that she had to be the killer since there weren't other leads. Just my guess that the whole situation probably stressed her out and if she already had any other kind of prior depression issues this just escalated them.

If anyone has ever watched the Dateline episode of the Justin Michael murder in Grimes it was interesting to see how they were able to figure out who the suspect was in that case. There was a time during the questioning they suspected his girlfriend did it because she wasn't showing much emotion during questioning and had no blood of his on her despite being in the same bed as him when he was shot in the middle of the night. Was almost like they thought she may have done it and was trying to cover it up until they finally started to put some other pieces together and realized who may have done it. I think the episode is on YouTube somewhere, that murder was probably a quarter mile away from where I live so was a bit creepy watching that episode knowing the area the murderer had been scouting in advance.
I worked with Justin and that POS David Moffitt. Once we learned Justin had been killed a co-worker said right away it was David. Just a sad/****** up situation.

IMO, the family handled that presser VERY well. It takes a heck of a human being(s) to stand there hearing all these law enforcement people pat themselves on the back, and then to be the ones to tell the media and public to respect the family of the accused.

Although this is a logical avenue to pursue in many cases, I don't buy it in this case. 26 year old single 10's typically don't pursue the husband of middle class, 38 year old 3's that they work with.

IMO, this will boil down to money, business, and perhaps illegalities. Rottlund was struggling financially in 2011, and went out of business by the end of the year. Did Okland uncover something illicit that the perp wanted to keep quiet?

Ashley had a BF at the time. I am friend with a few people who were friends with her back then. I think even @brentblum knew her.

Its not like the accused was some high up at Rottlund, it appears she was a mid level employee at most and not based out of their headquarters in Minnesota. So its certainly possible there was a business/financial motive, but it being something personal is still far more likely in a case like this. I agree with you that a jealous wife isn't very likely. There's an 11 year age difference between Ashley and the accused and Ashley's boyfriend was between them in age so its certainly possible they were is some of the same social circles.

I worked with his fiancee when that episode first aired. She was NOT well around that time. She/her family wanted nothing to do with it, and Dateline essentially told her "you can either work with us or we can paint you in a very bad light."
That's crazy. I just remember watching the episode and the part where they showed the footage from the interrogation room and it wasn't until she finally figured out who could have shot him when she finally broke down emotionally. Crazy how the mind can play tricks on you, she was literally next to him in bed when he was shot which should have been traumatic enough and it was almost like her mind walled that off when she was being questioned.

Here's my theory: Kristin Ramsey is a time traveler who assumed the alias of Wanda Fowler and committed the murder. The police couldn't solve the case until we were back in the present when the 53 year old Ramsey initiated her time travels.
I didn't think those substances were legal in Iowa.

Obviously we can all agree the murder was horrific and a terrible tragedy. That being said, I'll be fascinated to see what the defense team uses as a strategy for Ramsey.
I imagine they will figure that out once discovery happens in the case.

I remember learning/hearing about this via the news back in 2014. Didn't know the whole backstory until reading about it now. Holy cow.

I know a girl who went to high school with her. Different Grade but said she was cheerleading captain and a total normal girl and nobody ever would have guessed she did this. I believe she has a college aged son that goes to Iowa. I feel for that kid. Can't imagine being in college and your mom gets arrested for what is probably the most famous murder in Des Moines area history. (Johnny Gosch is still a kidnapping)
Drake Diner murders are still probably more famous.

As high profile as this murder, I’d be surprised if the evidence is not solid and it will be impossible for the defense to build a case.
I’m also assuming an Assistant AG will try the case rather than the Dallas County Attorney. So the AG’s office would have signed off on it as well- they’re not going to sign off on it unless they can prove the case.

I don’t a presser that is 20mins of various officials jerking each other off over something it took them 15 years to solve. She was an early suspect
In the case.

I distinctly remember them saying “there is no ongoing threat to the public” which led people to think the Kruse guy did it and then killed himself or the police “knew” who did it and were watching them. Turns out, that was likely BS and there was a murder roaming the metro so forgive me if I’m not going to pat them on the back just yet for solving something 15 years after.
