Ashley Okland Murder

Sorry, I have a bit of a weird need to mention Eugene Martin when Gosch’s name comes up.

It has always bothered me the “poor” kid didn’t really get the same coverage.

Strange story. I actually have a friend that played Eugene Martin on Unsolved mysteries when they filmed that episode back in the 80's. He looked exactly like him.

I would have thought any documented person in the room before police arrived would have been asked to provide fingerprints and gunshot residue testing.
If you’re a realtor or work in anything like real estate, you have to provide your fingerprints. I know as an appraiser first thing I had to do was go get fingerprinted.

Johnny Goschs mom made sure Johnny got more coverage.
Ehh, yeah maybe.

Both kidnappings were a big deal, but Martin’s case seemed to fade quickly.

I had (and probably still have) a bit of a chip on my shoulder when it comes to class issues, and at a couple years younger than Martin it is likely that amplified the perceived bias in my mind.

I don't think he did his killings in Iowa, but John Wayne Gacy was a manager at KFC in Waterloo for a while

Gosh's mom did a really good job of making it a big deal in the media and just pounding the ground. Martin's family kind of stayed away from the spotlight for the most part. I think his dad was a lot older if I am not mistaken. Noreen took every single opportunity to spread the word.

True. Some of that was that families with money have the opportunity to do that. They can quit jobs where families without those resources kind of have to go on.

You kind of see the same thing with the Uvalde and Sandy Hook shootings.

Anyone consider maybe they have wrong person? I'm not saying I know anything, but everybody on here has already convicted the woman it seems like. An arrest isn't a conviction. Innocent until proven guilty is still a thing. And no, I don't know anybody involved with this case.

Certainly not impossible. They took evidence to a grand jury who agreed to indict. They've got something on her. Seems like when you pin it on the wrong person its more likely someone who would have obvious motives and not a random fringe character like her with a more distant relationship to the victim.

Yeah. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. I would love to hear/see the evidence.
