Sorry about no preview today. Celebrated mom’s 96th birthday and then my band had a gig tonight and I just got home.
Will say a couple of things about KState.
1. They are VERY dangerous. They are a weird team in that they can beat almost anyone (ASU, BYU, TTech and OSU) and lose to almost anyone.
2. They are most dangerous at home which is where they dispatched BYU and OSU, but also strangely lost to Utah there.
3. They have won 3 of their last 4 games.
4. They have a lot of young talent which is also why they can be inconsistent.
5. The Sisters will likely see five guards on the court at the same time. This means better speed and quicker reaction to covering Crooks who has slowed of late.
6. Offensively they look similar in numbers to BYU, but are better, barely, at the line.
7. They aren’t great rebounders.
8. They have 2-3 players that can shoot the three.
9. Like BYU they don’t have dominant scorers, but can go off on a given day.
10. Ten players get nearly 10 minutes or more per games.
11. Their two bigs average about ten minutes per game. I suspect they will be used at times as foul fodder.
12. They have enough height with multiple players at 6’ or better.
The Sisters had best be ready. This team will slash to the basket, set screens and are capable of making you pay from deep. If the team struggles inside as it did against Utah for a half and the entire game versus BYU, this will be a struggle all the way through. As always this team goes where the guard court takes it.
Not sure what ESPN says, but I call this game a 100% tossup.
