Girl Scout Cookies

How do you eat Girl Scout cookies?

I cant remember the price they charged the last time I bought. But I do remember being a little shocked especially when I opened up and saw how few I was getting

I had a daughter who was the top seller in her troop for the entire time there was a troop. She was the only scout who went door to door in the neighborhood selling cookies. As the dad that had to go with her I constantly contemplated the wisdom of having GS cookie season in January/February in Minnesota.

Since she no longer sells them, I no longer need to eat them. I don't miss them.

Even during the 8 years or so that she sold them the shrinking size simultaneous with the cost increases was striking.

Since i never see this talked about and only recently learned this, but where you live will affect what kind of cookies you get. The reason i learned about this was apparently people consider little brownie baker to be a better product than ABC bakers.

Yeah, we had some switching back and forth for a while for various reasons - mostlly supply issues - and people get very cranky if they don't get exactly the cookies they expect.

Never knew there was 2 different ones. If I were to buy I would only go through the ones on the top with the fancy names.

Girl Scout cookies and Boy Scout popcorn. Two of the biggest ripoffs ever.

I’ve gotten to the point where I’m just giving a cash donation. If they only get 30% or so of the sale, it seems like a better deal to give them cash and buy cookies or popcorn at the store when I want them.

Did that the last couple times for my nephews, too. And I don't have to pretend to want to buy anything.

Do they have peanut butter patties at the store? Those are always the ones I like.

My fiancée was in Girl Scouts and she enjoys talking with them about their favorites and which ones she should buy. She sees it as a great learning opportunity and I get it

Agreed with the learning opportunity. I’m not writing a check to the council, I’m listening to the sales pitch and giving them a donation directly if they come to my door.

The cookies are good... BUT the cost and the amount you get know is quite eye popping.

I get that the money goes to scouting (hopefully most of it), but it is a bit tough to condone buying it anymore.

That's saying something since I'm an Eagle Scout, and so is my son and my 2 brothers. I fully support the programs, but the amount you get, for the amount they are asking is a reach.

As a father of a kid in scouts, I will just give a cash donation instead. The scouts actually receive very little money from the profits of the cookies. Scouts are far better off receiving cash donations instead.

Sure, you don't get the sugar fix, but there are plenty other ways to satisfy your sweet tooth

Stressful day at work today. Ate a whole box today. Feeling a little regret now.
