Taylor Mouser to Toledo?

What are the chances that Mouser gets an opportunity to become the HC at Toledo? Obviously was a GA at Toledo coming out of college. I am not sure he would be content with going from an OC at Iowa State to a position coach at Penn State. Thoughts on this?

Not an outlandish idea at all. Especially with likely a good recommendation from CMC.

There would definitely be worse places to start your HC career.
Toledo is a pretty established program.
Probably have averaged 8 wins a year for decades now?

Why does anyone think that Mouser is ready to leave Campbell? I really liked Mouser as an OC, but he is still in development. He hasn't done anything that would make me think he is ready to be a head coach anywhere.

I think Mouser is ready to take the next step in his career. He will never rise higher than OC under Campbell. This is a good moment for him to test the waters for a HC position somewhere

I’ve looked at several of their “lists” of candidates (you know…press throwing names out there and see who gains traction). Never seen Mouse on any of them yet.

IMO, Mouse has a LOT of development yet. He is definitely NOT a college level rock star yet and I think he needs to attain that status to be in position to become a HC at a D1 school. But, players apparently love him and that is a distinct positive.

The MAC seems to have gone from the 'cradle of coaches' to a sinkhole... Which is why Candle finally jumped to UConn. It would be good experience but I am not sure the path really exists to jump from Toledo to a P4 job anymore. Maybe it does, but it isn't as easy. Candle was considering taking a p4 OC job just to get out of there (FSU?).

Not a bad move if you are playing the long game but probably not going to work out if you want to climb quickly

I agree mostly, but at ISU he knew everyone and the program was established. He just had to keep the machine moving and Campbell would have done a lot to help him. I think he would have been more set up for success than anywhere else which makes it a unique situation. I can't see an outside school wanting to hire him I though.

And I am not complaining that we hired coach Jimmy. I would have been fine either way. In the end either choice is a crapshoot.

Exactly what Pollard told him to do. lol. Just saw that the PSU QB coach is off to VT. I've been surprised that Mouser hasnt been announced to PSU yet. I'm wondering if Mous is headed there as QB coach. It seems pretty obvious at this point that he's not getting the OC job there

Seems like the American has pretty much taken over that role

I think that is funny. he is good enough to be OC at Iowa State but not at Penn State? what a joke lmao.

The only think keeping the MAC in the FBS is the mid-week ESPN contract. If they were to lose that, they'd almost certainly have to go FCS as a league.

Mouser announced as OC at Ped St.

A little surprised by this to be quite honest.
Hope he does well. Quite a jump up.

I’m not sure who else Matt would’ve hired. He’s so loyal to him tree and Mouser is the hot hand right now.
