Got into this with some colleagues, thought it was interesting. If you had to list the 4 musicians/singers/bands that you like least, who would they be? The ones you truly despise, who make you turn the station when one of their songs comes on.

The only rule is that they have to be real, legit performers who have an actual following; it can't be anyone like Rick Astley, Nickelback, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rebecca Black (the 'Friday' song), etc. who yeah they may be legit performers but are widely mocked and not taken seriously.

I'll start...

Gloria Estefan - I don't know what it is about her, but the second I hear one of her songs come on I virtually break into hives. There's nothing about her music I like.

Rod Stewart - His raspy voice, tiny body, huge hair, spandex tights, and horrible horrible lyrics easily put him on my list. There are definitely some things about the 70s/early 80s I liked. He ain't one of them.

Katy Perry - Everything about her is so contrived. The over-the-top costumes, the dumb themes to her albums and music, her shameless self-promotion and ridiculous product lines, plus from what I've heard and read she's just an awful human.

The Jackson 5 - This has everything to do with young Michael Jackson and his high-pitched adolescent voice. It almost sounds painful. Their version of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" might be the worst recording in human history.

Ironically enough Rebecca Black is kind of a legitimate electropop artist now, kind of a "we have Charli XCX at home" vibe.

Cher

K. C. and the Sunshine Band

Patti Smith

Can't think of another right now...
Maybe some 80's hair band like Poison or Ratt.
James Brown has about 3 interesting songs. The rest all pretty much sound the same to me. I don't like overly repetitive songs or acts that never venture out of their niche.

I blame Cher for making Autotune acceptable with that awful awful song of hers.

I tried listening to Billy Eilish but I don’t get it. I mean the kids seem to like it

Don’t like the Doors at all

I like a few Rush songs but have never been a huge fan of them. Very talented though

A lot of bands I used to be a huge fan of when I was younger have music that didn’t age well.

Then again some of the bands when I was younger that I didn’t like to much are now favorites of mine. Like Cinderella

Lucinda Williams
Dave Matthews
Head and the Heart
Fall Out Boy
Panic at the Disco

Steely Dan, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Carve them in the mountain and then blow that mother ****** up.

Maybe 10 years ago this might have been the first two I thought of.

Something happened where I started to enjoy Steely Dan on occasion.

It is somewhat concerning. If the same thing happens with Red Hot Chili Peppers I’ll know the undiagnosed syphilis has passed the point of recovery.

Yeah she's one of those who are just very whispery/breathy with their singing. I do like some of her songs, heard them because my daughters are/were fans, I think she just does the "breathy" thing better than the others. I actually really like the song she did for the 'Barbie' movie.

I just listened to Rick Beato break down some Steely Dan.

He can make any music sound better....

Except for Steely ******* Dan! I hate it even more now
