What in the world? “Farmageddon” term was specifically banned?

So stupid. We should lean 100% into the name and create a cool ag trophy. Corn > wheat.

Exactly. Lean into it. We don't have many games with actual national appeal. This is one of them. I'm not saying it's a travesty if we don't play them, but when you have an actual rivalry that shows up on the national radar, you don't downplay it. Have JD or Case IH donate an actual tractor that travels to the game each year as a trophy. Play it up. It's not something to be embarrassed about.

I really hope this was someone dumb at the Big12 office and that neither of the schools ADs were against it.
Too lazy to look back up, but fairly confident the schools are part of the problem, meaning them also don’t want it called Farmageddon

I guess I could see not wanting the name if it was like the "Cargill Classic" and they paid for an endorsement, but Farmageddon is a great name and rivalry.
I legit would like to ask Jamie about this. In a one on one conversation he might answer the question, or answer the question without answering it.

Makes me think about Art Cullen's latest substack in which he relates that he was informed by a big-city editor that "Rural doesn't sell".

Could be whut the White-collar Wonks is a thinkin' at Aitch-Kew.

Not necessarily super relevant, but this JP interview on 365 Sports does talk a bit about why this isn't a protected rivalry.

So stupid. One of the coolest things about this rivalry is that it developed organically. I believe the name came from fan usage over time. Its mind numbingly stupid that the powers at be don't lean into this more. Instead we're left trying to make up new tv product rivalries like TCU Baylor.

It feels like that maybe comes from the K-state side? I only base that on there being some big Cyclone donors, like Steve Sukup, that like the term Farmageddon.
I've heard someone at Iowa State doesn't like it. Not sure on the Kansas St side

My guess is that K State thinks they are superior to us and they don't want to acknowledge it as a rivalry

No idea though, could just as well be some issue on the ISU side
