DEPTH CHART IS OUT!

Sama has had like 3 good games as a Cyclone, and the crazy snow globe game at KSU.

In all fairness, same with Hansen. But i'm not sure why people anoint Sama as the next Troy Davis or Breece Hall.
Last year was definitely a sophomore slump year for him. Needs to learn this isnt HS FB anymore and you cant just run around people. If his field vision improves, its not hard to see that he COULD be one of the next great ISU RB's

*Edit* if Sama rips off a 75 yard off tackle run, circa Breece Hall 2021, it will be a great way to break in KSU's new DC

He could or he could also become 3rd string behind Lee if he doesn’t too

Biggest take aways. Not a single stand out in the WR room to earn a full time starter share of work is not a good thing. Kind of like the Packers, (yay we have depth but not a single GUY in the room). Freshman CB listed opposite Jontez is an interesting watch.
Everybody clowning this. None of the guys on the roster will top 1,000 yards for the season which both Noel and Higgins eclipsed in 2024.

I don't want to come off like I don't trust his abilities but people harp on the Snowmageddon game....perhaps the reason for the huge touchdowns in that game was more about the playing environment and the inability to tackle and get people down because of the snow.....I think Abu is a good back and has awesome potential but that game gave people a little more optimism than his other results probably warranted

Even if you take the snowmageddon out of the equation, he's had 10/25 games where hes averaged 5 yards per carry or more, and 15/25 games where hes averaged 4 yards per carry or higher.

That's not some bold statement. You mean we lost two day two NFL draft picks from the WR room and we're not going to immediately replace them with someone new having a top 10 receiving season in school history? Oooh what a shocker that'd be :jimlad:

Don't need to have a Higgins/Noel in order to have a deep WR room and productive passing game.

I respectfully disagree.
We paid Sowell and Townsend to be Cyclones. Having an "OR" and being listed second is a HUGE deal.

I think Overby and Eskildsen are just that good.
it's the first game of the year. You really think Campbell is going to reveal his hand - when this is one of, it not thee most important game of the year - when there's no tape out on this team yet this year?

Lol actually.... it's more likely the staff tells the players to completely disregard depth charts as it's for the media and fans....versus using it as a motivational tactic.
lol actually… you think the players and coaches don’t care…

That argument holds about as much water as people saying Matt Campbell doesn’t really care about CyHawk.

Foolishness.

This thread is amazing.

Handful of posters have “heard” about camp injuries yet are saying opposite information. I’ll lean towards no one knows anything.

Half the thread doesn’t care because it’s a CMC depth thread and some are already hanging the noose ready to call it a year.

Great theater for a Monday.

Can you tell we're all tired of the offseason?

Take a look around the league. 1,000 yards receiving isn't some insane number. Just because Iowa State history is historically bad from a WR standpoint doesn't make this a huge number. The fact that no one is the DOG in this room is concerning. My initial statement was this was similar to the Packers WR room. Plenty of guys who can contribute, but not a single massive game changer go to guy. The fact that we lost 2 go to guys when the going gets tough does not bode well. Hoping Brahmer has a huge year and can be that guy, because it looks like the WR room will not have that guy.

I think it's because it's week 0. Like 10 teams in all of college football play.

And, if ISU has another nice season despite yardage, who cares?

How do you know nobody is a 'DOG'?

Do you think this week defines the season?
