Krause just sold kum & go for billions and he blows outrageous amounts of money on soccer between the DSM Menace and Parma FC. Don't think he cares about college sports though, and it's way different owning a team vs just giving away money.

Maybe Iowa State should start selling off equity stakes in the football team a la Barcelona / Real Madrid / the GB Packers.

Like give fans who "own" a share some sort of vote on stuff like beer in the stadium or like which concession items to bring in or something.
The Krause family are huge hok boosters.

Yeah, $5 mill liquid is a whole other ball game from $5mill net worth.

A household with...

Two married spouses
Both with college degrees
One always working and other always or mostly always worked (maybe the woman took some time away if they had children but generally both of them have a good career)
Bought a house, paid it off, took good care of it
Prudently saves and invests
Otherwise doesn't make any big "mistakes" (e.g., losing $100 on some backdoor cover watching Arizona play BYU is fine but didn't go out and put $10,000 on black at roulette)

...should most the time hit $5 million (or at least ~$3ish) by the time they're ready to retire. There are some exceptions, but I would estimate more often than not they're gonna land there.

That household is very upper-middle class or even affluent, but I bet it roughly describes most of the people on here (maybe not in their 60s and ready to retire but somewhere on the same path).

Doesn't mean they have much liquid, though. I think I have <1% of my net worth in a checking account right now. Pretty much everything is locked up in either tax-advantaged retirement savings accounts or illiquid assets like the house and cars. I'm sure "cash poor, asset rich" types like farmers would say the same thing.

Enough money to kick something into the WWC kitty to help out.

But not enough to bankroll an entire roster on their own or with a small number of 'em.

News tonight that Phil Knight have Oregon's cancer research dept $2 bil.
OHSU, which is unaffiliated with Oregon fwiw. They need some stabilizing after losing some important pieces to leadership drama.

Those list of the top rich people in Iowa are absolutely worthless other than Harry Stine and Danny Albaugh. They are actually stupid beyond those two names.
I'd be shocked if Denny doesn't already gives to ISU.
