I’ll say that I haven’t watched IH and don’t plan to. At this point, a show needs either a really good plot/stakes or a character I’m interested in to watch. X-Men I’ll watch and hope for the best. Fantastic four is the same. I missed Thunderbolts in the theater but I’ll catch it eventually. I watched Agatha because she’s an interesting character and it was something different.

I think that super hero fatigue is real at least for me. There has to be something to pull me in, I’m just not going to consume anything they put out. Similar to Star Wars.

I agree, I thought the first reboot was fairly entertaining, and I was interested to see what they could do with the idea with modern CGI. Saw most of the next one - boring and dumb. Caught a few of the third one and couldn't stand it after giving it some time. I actually thought the general premise of a new normal with dinos out in the wild could've been interesting, but that was an awful story.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I cannot understand for the life of me why the writer or writers for that movie decided to make big locusts the main threat.

With Hollywood any inexplicable decision usually has one of two causes.

Nepotism (somebody let their talentless cousin write the script)

Drugs (usually cocaine, which tends to make your decisions appear better in the moment)

Special effects were great. Plot and characters were terrible. And the Rankor looking thing was dumb. Overall. It sucked. Maybe see it in 3D for mindless entertainment and air conditioning.

I'm repeating but over the years I've realized I don't think the first one is that good although it's probably the best one.

Iirc someone like Ebert put it well that it needed to be more Close Encounters or Jaws but it tried to do both.
Disagree. The first one is a classic. Saw it in the theatre as a teenager. A lot of fun.

I think the movie works on so many levels. You speak to the special effects which were revolutionary at the time and continues to outpace current movies (ahem… Marvel).

It also is an excellent action, adventure movie. The first T-Rex attack and the Raptors hunting the kids in the kitchen are as thrilling action sequences as you’ll find in any film.

It also has an ever-present message on the dangers of advancing technology as well as human intervention in nature. This commentary could apply to a host of current or future situations. The science is also grounded in reality for the science fiction genre.

And the characters are well written and compelling. Ian Malcolm is one of my favorite supporting characters (non main protagonist/anatagonist) in all of film.

Anyway, you can tell I’m a fan.
I don’t know how I could have forgotten to mention John Williams’ amazing score!

The ease of watching streaming rather than going to a theater has caused limited series to replace movies. Film creators can spend time developing characters and have a story that can be fleshed out in 8 hours rather than 2.

Lord of the Rings would have been a series now rather than cutting 1/3 of the movie to be in the theater.
I hate it honestly. I don't want to invest so much time into TV/streaming. I like movies because it's over in one shot. Short stories are a lost art IMO. As far as going to the theatre, it's about the money for me. Just gouging any where they can. Flix I like because you can get decent food and it's delivered to you.

I saw it in the theater too and loved it then... think it's a classic for it's iconic technology etc but whenever I watch it now it's just kinda goofy after the first hour and I've grown to be annoyed by some characters etc.

It's a high bar but I wouldn't put it in top 5 Spielberg movies (that I've seen) off the top of my head and could probably do more digging and drop it lower.

My 21yo and 15yo sons went to Jurassic World Rebirth last night. The 15yo said it is his 2nd favorite of the franchise after the original JP. Have not talked to my older son about it yet.

I love Jurassic Park. It was the first movie I saw in the theaters growing up. No matter how bad, I'll still go and watch for the nostalgia of the dinosaurs. With the initial positive reviews, I was hopeful. I saw the moving July 3rd.

What a horrible movie. There was nothing "rebirth" about the movie or concept. So disappointing. They tease sinister stuff, but they really just glossed over the crossbreeding/genetic stuff. The big bad dino was only in the movie for 4 minutes, AND they made the T-rex look silly. The T-rex has been the savior or an integral part of the movie. Where was she this time at the end??

Took the 10 YO grandson earlier this week.
Is the plot great? NO
Are the dinosaurs realistic? YES
Is Scarlett hot? YES

We only paid $6 per ticket and muled in our own snacks. I feel I got my value out of the evening but had I paid full price it may have been a different story.

Whatever dino this is, TRex or otherwise...that's the Rancor from Return of the Jedi.

There are a ton of these posters in my neighborhood and I think "Return of the Jedi" every time I look up and see one.
