Worker Happiness

Every time I have been in a dispensary, the clerks are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Who'da thunk?

Drugs, coffee, food, guns, exercise, helping people and kids make people happy ... who would've thought?

.. aaaaand apparently ripping peoples teeth out? of course dentists are happy ... buncha sadists smfh

I’ve seen the houses that the dentists and orthodontists put up around here. Pulling in that kind of cash would make me enjoy my job as well.

I would opine that a lot of those seem like smaller businesses. Where your supervisor and/or the owner is right there with you.

I don't see mega financial corporations or silicon valley giant type industries in there.

I'd be curious to see the ratios of how many are happy vs less happy. We talking like 20% overall happiness here or what?

It seems as though social interaction makes people happier. These jobs are mostly ones that have you face to face with people.

Jobs that provide stress/time relief. Weed, not having to Cook/clean/set up, nothing is worse than nagging teeth problems, not having to clean the house, coffee, etc.

I'm guessing what comes with that is general autonomy which also contributes. If you feel in control of what you're doing it makes a difference.

Also jobs you can do that you automatically see the result of, you see people enjoying or excited about what you're providing for them. Can give it more purpose and be more rewarding.

I work in education and as a side hustle I stock shelves in a local store and to be honest it's quite refreshing getting a simple 'thank you' for showing someone where something is.

I jokingly brag about it to my school coworkers.

Dentists work hard to save teeth rather than have to rip them out.

But they aren't always successful in that. Believe me I know. My BIL is a dentist on the Missouri/Kansas border.
